Game over screen test sprint 4

Marco777777 edited this page Oct 18, 2021 · 1 revision

Purpose

The main purpose of this test is to observe and analyse participants' satisfaction with our redesigned game Over Screen background image, background music and button style, and collect participants' suggestions for improving Game over Screen. Observe and record the participants' behaviour by observing them as they complete the task. After the test, we will ask them several questions to further judge users' satisfaction with this function and collect specific improvement suggestions.

Process

Testers will be asked to participate in our testing tasks. We will introduce the specific steps and objectives of the task to the testers before the task starts, and give them a complete introduction to the rules of the game. As the testers completed the task, we recorded the user's reactions. Finally, we will analyse the observations and collected results to find out the problems in the functions and preliminarily determine the solutions.

Tasks

  • After entering the game, the tester lowered their HP to 0 and successfully entered the Game over Screen.
  • Ask testers what they think of the overall design style of Game Over Screen.
  • Let testers click on any button in Game Over Screen.

Key questions we asked were:

  • What do you think of the background image for our new Game Over Screen design?
  • Are you satisfied with the background music in Game Over Screen?
  • What additional features do you think need to be added to Game Over Screen?
  • In what aspects do you think our design needs to be further optimized?

Summary

In general, users are satisfied with our redesigned Game Over Screen. All users can successfully complete all tasks, which indicates that the color collocation of Game over Screen is reasonable and will not bring visual obstacles to users. And all of our testers said that the background image of Game Over Screen matched the overall pixel style of the game. However, More than 50% of our testers reported that the design of the background image was not a good representation of Game Over. In the later design, we will refer to the background picture of main menu screen and appropriately add some new elements to the background picture of Game Over Screen, so as to better show the characteristics of Game over Screen and correspond with the story line of the Game.

In addition, all the testers were very satisfied and enjoyed the background music we designed together with group 9. They feel that the style of the background music fits well with the theme of Game Over because the music can give the player a feeling of regret. Therefore, the design of background music for Game Over Screen by us and Group 9 was successful.
