• Review action items from previous meeting

  • Boris will update and create a shared version of spreadsheet attached to #188. Then everyone can review/amend, issues to be resolved at next meeting.
    • Postponing this discussion, since 10.0.0 is now postponed till May.
    • Note: The implementation has already been specified in #188. It was waiting for implementation until the next major release, which will now be 10.0.0. Rebecca has been assigned to the implementation. What is the remaining issue?

• Discussion topics

  • Issue #424: ComplexRelationship class
    • Dan agrees that this is a design pattern rather than a class. He has a stack of design patterns that this can be included in. He proposes closing the issue. Michael agrees.
    • Boris: why was this proposed at all, rather than using rdf:Statement?
      • Dan: Dan, Michael, and MarkW conceived of the idea. Was never supposed to be instantiated directly.
      • Rebecca: Semantically weird to put times and other properties on rdf:Statement.
      • Peter: Helpful to have a primer on design patterns.
  • Schedule review of issue #451: Simplify Magnitude and Unit of Measure.
    • Dave: we should resolve this before we push 10.0.0
    • Upshot of proposal: remove original version of units of measure and only use coherent units
    • Dan: without addressing merits of proposal itself, I recall that one client commented that it was too bulky. Would be a plus to shrink it down.
    • Michael: we have a lot of unit definitions in a client ontology, would like to figure out what to do with them.
    • Rebecca: we should schedule a discussion with Phil
    • Dan: we should also schedule a discussion with Ted on his geo proposal?
    • Is the geo proposal a major change?
    • Dan and Ted will refine the deck and send to team
    • DECISION: Push 10.0.0 out to end of May. Next release will be 9.7.0 at end of April.
  • Bring up consistent class/property local names at the next gist council. Dan will look up previous discussions to include.
    • Note: The implementation has already been specified in #188. It was waiting for implementation until the next major release, which will now be 10.0.0. Rebecca has been assigned to the implementation. What is the remaining issue?
    • Deferring this discussion since not relevant to next release
  • Development of a primer for design patterns - discussion for next meeting.
    • Rebecca: do we want to publish our design patterns? - this is our secret sauce.
    • Peter: this just means we don't publish the primer, but use it as an internal document.
