Meeting Notes

May 1st: Nina, Jen, Erik, Allie(ish—1st half)

• Recap of first round of SecureDrop user Research
• All remote research—how that worked, how we did post-session synthesis, etc.
• Summarized for Allie; introduced idea of Allie pairing with Nina.
• Questions:
• What can we meaningfully test, in time to inform Beta?
• Export (briefcase) workflow once validated technically and new prototype has been built
• How/What/When?
• Do we need in-person testing?
• Do we want to test a live builds?
• Nina: It would be really valuable to test in person. We need real data on issues that only arise in production (e.g., Tor network).
• Erik: In-person very challenging to coordinate, likely expensive; let's try to do a combo, and be thoughtful with how we potentially plan in-person (SF, likely best candidate)
• Convo pivot: Export!
• Ugh: what can we really do in time for Beta? What can suck the least?
• UX Kid™ presents the well-received idea of keeping a single per-session [disp-VM] and employing that as the Briefcase; immediately exporting all files in real-time, immediately after the user clicks the "Add/Export/tbd" button.
• Lots of talk on this—potential for it to be a better overall experience, than current/prototyped Briefcase batch-export.
• Erik following-up with Mickael; Nina to hold off on further exploration, until word from Erik.
