Melee attack animation
The melee attack animation was very similar to the archery animations. I used the same basic character positions but I just moved their elbow downward for each animation. This was because in the movies I have seen, generally characters will hold a dagger lower near their stomach when they are attacking underhand (although there are many exceptions).
I then drew a crude right-angle style knife in a dull grey colour. I researched different elf style blades and noticed that many of them were curved or adorned in gold (see inspiration images below). However, the elves using the daggers are low level guards - they are unlikely to afford / be given fancy weaponry.
Additionally, because the knife is so small comparatively to the elf, it is likely any adornments would not be noticed.
