Project team round

Here we discuss topics that need broader attention, for example questions that came up but are outside a single project's scope, larger planned changes/PRs that affect all teams or pending work that is blocked by external factors.

  1. Models / NESTML
    • nothing to report (vacation)
  2. PyNEST
    • nothing to report (vacation)
    • #1539 progress?
  3. Kernel
    • no report (vacation)
  4. Installation
    • working on reviews, nothing major to report, need MacOS people to look into issues there
  5. Infrastructure
    • fixed macos build on github
  6. Documentation
    • many things from gh-pages were already copied to the RTD docs
    • now uses consistently python3 instead of python
  7. EBRAINS
    • nothing to report
  8. (Feature) Random number generation
    • no report (vacation)
  9. (Feature) Automated Testing

In-depth discussion

Badges in NEST Readme.md

  • not too many numbers
  • also put / move badges into other parts of the documentation
  • social buttons may be useful only for the redirect

#1289 Create a Stack Overflow tag

  • stack overflow answers are really well visible
  • stack overflow is much more searchable than the mailing list
  • who would maintain answers on stack overflow
  • currently few people with SO account
  • could create nest tag "nest-simulator"
  • requirements for tag to stay alive: https://stackoverflow.com/help/privileges/create-tags
  • would reduce traffic on mailing list

Conclusion: We all should get StackOverflow accounts.
