WARNING: Doing this mod makes it more difficult to change the card bracket from full height to half height, but since i know of no half height brackets for this card, that might be a moot point. I thought i would disclaim it anyways...
I actually prefer to mod my cards with a BNC jack if they don't happen to have one already (blue cards), the RCA and SVIDEO can wiggle / slip out over time and you end up with a poor connection. Also, need one less adapter.
This mod is pretty simple:
- Remove C31 from the card, this bridges VMUX0 and VMUX1, which can degrade signals.
- Remove the card bracket
- Remove the RCA jack, you can either de-solder it, or remove it mechanically. Video of how to remove it mechanically with just wire cutters and good old fashion elbow grease: https://youtube.com/shorts/eFz4xIisDBg
- Put the bracket back on the card (yup, do this first)
- Put the panel mount bnc adapter through the hole, and thread the nut
- Turn the bnc jack to tighten holding the nut still
- If you do it just right, the PCB will hold the nut, and use a bnc cable connected to the jack to tighten it.
- If not also doing the direct wire mod, solder a wire from the center of the jack to the PCB where the old RCA center pin was connected.
