Codewise it looks good and if @isuruf says it's working, then its good to go! (I couldn't test it in the codespace, which fails to start due to space restrictions...)
(I've removed the --enable-system-site-packages flag, since this is not appropriate for endusers in my opinion as discussed in the linked ticket, and let's not block this PR here by continuing the discussion).
