That depends on what textual date we're trying to parse. For some textual representations But in the case of this test the textual representation we're trying to parse has been generated by asking Java to format a date using the exact same format string. So it implies the current pre-release versions of Java 11 cannot always round-trip a date to text and back when So I think the description of this PR should be more along the lines of "change date format to avoid hitting pre-release Java 11 bug". Also, I agree this is highly unlikely to affect ML users because hardly anyone sends data direct to the post_data endpoint. But the problem could affect core Elasticsearch if time parsing is moved from Joda to Java time. |

The
DataDescriptionTestsfail on Java 11 with the format stringyyyy.MM.dd G 'at' HH:mm:ss zdue to a change in the validation, a capital. The cause is a bug in Java 11 early access build https://bugs.java.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=JDK-8206980, the failing test is muted until that bug is resolved.Zshould be used instead of lower caseThis change also returns the root cause
DateTimeExceptionin the error.Note setting the time stamp format string can only be done via the API and not in the UI.
