Hi there,
the device expects 3.3V TTL level, 3 pin Rx/Tx/Gnd with 9600Bd, 8bit, no parity, 1 stop bit. All USB or Bluetooth modules fullfilling those requirements will work I guess.
Latency of USB modules is low though and might get up with BT modules. As long as its only around a few ms with BT give it a try. They only cost a few $ anyway.
Am away from home currently, otherwise I had done a test myself. Curious now.

I tried the hm-10 bluetooth module, it needs to be configured in the main module. I will use it with usb.
