Arabic translation standards #84
Comments
@mhmoodlan, thanks for opening this issue. I am translating the linear algebra sheet. Mathematical definitions seem to be easier to translate. I usually check Wikipedia which usually contains good translations. We have to be careful with the machine learning stuff. |
BTW, since Arabic is from right to left we need to enclose each statement with . You can check the Persian documents to have a better understanding. |
أخشى أن أستعمل مصطلحات قد يستعمل الآخرون غيرها ونحن نقصد نفس المفهوم! علينا التنسيق جيدا، كما قال زيد، ويكيبيديا تعتبر مرجعا جيدا لاختيار الترجمات! |
there is a problem with the RTL layout when mixing the arabic words with latin notations, do you have any idea how I can fix this ? |
@moun3imy, thanks for bringing this in. I was planning to explain it ...
|
@redouanelg, @qunaieer , @wydadman , @AmjadKhatabi, Please see the post above it is very important! |
@shervinea, I understand we need some extra steps as I can see from the submitted Persian documents since Arabic is RTL. I explained it in the post above, any comments ? |
@zaidalyafeai Nothing to add, this looks great. Thanks for detailing the procedure! |
السلام عليكم النقطة الأخرى هي عدم الاتفاق في الترجمة بين المترجمين، أو عدم صحة الترجمة للمصطلحات. وهنا أعتقد أن الفرصة مناسبة في هذا المشروع للاتفاق على المصطلحات. أقترح أن نناقش جميع المصطلحات هنا ونوحدها في جميع الملفات، وأن ندعوا المختصين للاطلاع على هذه الترجمات والدخول في النقاش. مع تحياتي، |
Salam guys! @zaidalyafeai I also check the Wikipedia translation, for terms that I don't find a previous reliable translation I put the most relevant Arabic term that deliver the same meaning. @qunaieer that is a very good idea. I am working on the deep learning file and will bring uncertain translations to here for discussion. Kind regards! |
It would be great if we ended up with such document. I didn't realize the size of the problem until now, having no standards for Arabic translation in this field is really limiting the amount of produced content. |
What are the best translations for (Gradient and Hessian) ? |
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته بالنسبة ال directional derivative أتوقع إنه أفضل لو نسميها "المشتقة المتجهة" أفضل من "متجه الاشتقاقات" و الجمع غالبا بيكون "المشتقات المتجهة"ا مجرد اقتراح |
بحثت و وجدت إن أفضل مسمى لل هو ببساطة مصفوفة هيس |
Guys,
I saw it referenced in many places, like in this book or across wikipedia pages. |
Thanks @forzagreen BTW, I finished the linear algebra document. Feel free to review it if you have time. |
@zaidalyafeai where can I find the linear algebra document that you translate it since I could not find it? |
@farisalasmary the file will be commited once it is reviewed. If you have some experience wit reviewing Pull Requests ;look at #85 |
تعريب المصطلحات من أكبر المشكلات، وأعتقد يجب أن يتوحد التعريب لكل الملفات حتى لا تكون مربكة. |
فضلاً أضف اسمك في العمود وقم بالترجمة أسفله، ثم سنرى أفضل الترجمات وكيف نقوم بتوحيدها ودمجها. |
Hey All, It is been one month since we started the translation process. We have one file merged and one under final review. If you are busy and can't finish the translation process please let me know! |
Dear all, I finished translating the "unsupervised learning" cheatsheet, would be nice if someone here can review the work. Thanks |
Cool! Will take a look asap! |
Hello all, I was working the past two months with experts in the field (7 PhD holders in AI/ML) and translators to translate the terminologies the best we can. Please bear with me a little, we might finish within two weeks, we are in the revision stage. This should allow us to unify the translations. |
Hi all, For example:
can be written as:
|
Hey, Some translations has been idle for some time. It would be cool if we can finalize stuff asap. |
hey @zaidalyafeai, |
@moun3imy It would be helpful if you can finalize this ? |
Hello @zaidalyafeai @redouanelg @mhmoodlan @shervinea Please allow me to manage the work among us to be more organized, and to finish the work with unified and coherent translations and terminologies. So, the files need to be work on are: Although Deep Learning and Linear Algebra are finished, I suggest to review them again and use the agreed on terminologies to be coherent with the rest of the files. But, lets make this after we finish from the rest of the files. I will shortly finish from translating [ar] Supervised Learning file. Best regards, |
I have finished translating [ar] Supervised Learning file, and created a pull request. Next, we need some one to revise the file. |
@mhmoodlan excellent! |
I have done reviewing [ar] Unsupervised Learning file, and will start [ar] Machine learning tips and tricks. |
@mhmoodlan have you started working on [ar] Probabilities and Statistics? |
yes, I am half way through [ar] Probabilities and Statistics. |
Hello all, So, basically we only need to review one and complete the translation of the other and review it. |
I've just finished [ar] Probabilities and Statistics, will create a PR for it to be reviewed. EDIT: here is the PR #182 |
@qunaieer @mhmoodlan thanks for your efforts. So, basically we need to review two documents. I can review "Machine learning tips and tricks" and maybe @qunaieer work on the "Probabilities and Statistics" ? |
Thank you @zaidalyafeai Meanwhile, can I suggest for @zaidalyafeai and @AmjadKhatabi to re-review the files you previously translated based on the agreed-upon terminologies on https://www.nmthgiat.com/terminology/ to unify the translations?, you might just make a quick check on the terminologies. I believe you finished the translations before the publication of the terminologies translations. |
Hello, |
@qunaieer I already explained what to do here
|
Thank you @zaidalyafeai for the explanation. I will edit the documents I translated accordingly. |
Hello @shervinea |
Hello @shervinea Please let us know if you need any help in adding the translations to the website. Thank you for the excellent materials. And many thanks to the contributors in this thread. Best regards, |
Thanks to all of you |
Thank you very much @qunaieer as well as @zaidalyafeai, @AmjadKhatabi, @mznmel, @mhmoodlan, @redouanelg and @moun3imy for all your work. Afshine and I will let you know as soon as the translation is up. |
