Tableau Reporting

  • From the Tableau Desktop - go to Server menu and choose the Open Workbook. This will list all the available work books that are published

  • Choose any Data source (it might prompt for the username and password to connect to the server).

  • Once you open the data source, Go to the Data source tab (left bottom corner of the screen where you can see all the entities that are available (client, bed inventory etc)

  • You can drag / drop / filter /join the entities for the reports. Here is a sample Client report (published on server now).

Creating a new data source

  • From Tableau Desktop, select MS SQL Server from the connect menu. DB host name : datamart.cvvhlvb3ryja.us-west-2.rds.amazonaws.com username : datamart
  • From the "Data" Menu , choose New Data source
  • In the Datasource screen, from the database drop down, choose the option datamart You should see list of entities available from the DB
