I have a project which uses the "batman-adv" module for mesh networking, and while it's been educational trying to compile modules to support a rapidly developing system, after posting about it on the forum I was advised that there's no reason this module should not be included and I should post an issue here.

The project details are here:-

When nvme_delete_queue fails in the first pass of the
nvme_disable_io_queues() loop, we return early, failing to suspend all
of the IO queues. Later, on the nvme_pci_disable path, this causes us
to disable MSI without actually having freed all the IRQs, which
triggers the BUG_ON in free_msi_irqs(), as show below.

This patch refactors nvme_disable_io_queues to suspend all queues before
start submitting delete queue commands. This way, we ensure that we
have at least returned every IRQ before continuing with the removal
path.

When a tail call fails, it is documented that the tail call should
continue execution at the following instruction. An example tail call
sequence is:

  12: (85) call bpf_tail_call#12
  13: (b7) r0 = 0
  14: (95) exit

The ARM assembler for the tail call in this case ends up branching to
instruction 14 instead of instruction 13, resulting in the BPF filter
returning a non-zero value:

commit f4483f2 upstream.

The code dereferences event before checking the STARTED bit. Patch
below should cure the issue.

The warning should not trigger, if I analyzed the thing correctly.
(And Paul's testing confirms this.)

On a system with only one CPU online, when another one CPU panics while
starting-up, smp_send_stop() will fail to send any STOP message to the
other already online core, resulting in a system still responsive and
alive at the end of the panic procedure.

[ Upstream commit 65a6543 ]

While testing io_uring in arm, we found sometimes io_sq_thread() keeps
polling io requests even though there are not inflight io requests in
block layer. After some investigations, found a possible race about
io_kiocb.flags, see below race codes:
  1) in the end of io_write() or io_read()
    req->flags &= ~REQ_F_NEED_CLEANUP;
    kfree(iovec);
    return ret;

  2) in io_complete_rw_iopoll()
    if (res != -EAGAIN)
        req->flags |= REQ_F_IOPOLL_COMPLETED;

In IOPOLL mode, io requests still maybe completed by interrupt, then
above codes are not safe, concurrent modifications to req->flags, which
is not protected by lock or is not atomic modifications. I also had
disassemble io_complete_rw_iopoll() in arm:
   req->flags |= REQ_F_IOPOLL_COMPLETED;
   0xffff000008387b18 <+76>:    ldr     w0, [x19,#104]
   0xffff000008387b1c <+80>:    orr     w0, w0, #0x1000
   0xffff000008387b20 <+84>:    str     w0, [x19,#104]

Seems that the "req->flags |= REQ_F_IOPOLL_COMPLETED;" is load and
modification, two instructions, which obviously is not atomic.

To fix this issue, add a new iopoll_completed in io_kiocb to indicate
whether io request is completed.

The reason is that the dynamic events array keeps track of the field
position of the fields array, via the field_pos variable in the
synth_field structure. Unfortunately, that field is a boolean for some
reason, which means any field_pos greater than 1 will be a bug (in this
case it was 2).

The reason is that the dynamic events array keeps track of the field
position of the fields array, via the field_pos variable in the
synth_field structure. Unfortunately, that field is a boolean for some
reason, which means any field_pos greater than 1 will be a bug (in this
case it was 2).

The crash happens because kmemleak_free_part_phys() tries to use __va()
before memstart_addr is initialized and this triggers a VM_BUG_ON() in
arch/arm64/include/asm/memory.h:

Revert 6e44bd6 ("memblock: exclude NOMAP regions from kmemleak"),
the issue it is fixing will be fixed differently.

xukuohai pushed a commit to xukuohai/linux-raspberry-pi that referenced this issue May 9, 2022
The BPF STX/LDX instruction uses offset relative to the FP to address
stack space. Since the BPF_FP locates at the top of the frame, the offset
is usually a negative number. However, arm64 str/ldr immediate instruction
requires that offset be a positive number. Therefore, this patch tries to
convert the offsets.

The method is to find the negative offset furthest from the FP firstly.
Then add it to the FP, calculate a bottom position, called FPB, and then
adjust the offsets in other STR/LDX instructions relative to FPB.

FPB is saved using the callee-saved register x27 of arm64 which is not
used yet.

Before adjusting the offset, the patch checks every instruction to ensure
that the FP does not change in run-time. If the FP may change, no offset
is adjusted.

For example, for the following bpftrace command:

  bpftrace -e 'kprobe:do_sys_open { printf("opening: %s\n", str(arg1)); }'
