@ericsnowcurrently there's no documentation for this and this seems specific to sub-interpreters which lack a public Python API (plus I don't like the name 😉). Can we give this a private name if this is for experimenting purposes?

We can do whatever you like. 😄 I was going to document it once I got around to my PEP 684 docs backlog.

Then I personally would argue for making the API have a leading underscore (for now).
