Release next version of the package

Following needs to be the scope for the next release:

  1. Relaxing the package dependencies -> Already implemented in dev branch, corresponds to PR #36.

  2. Expanding the supported image formats and updating the documentation accordingly: Related to issue #35.

  3. Removal of print statements: Related to issue #39

  4. Cython brute force: PR #56
