Overview

We need to conduct an A/B testing of certain components of the desktop and mobile version to see if the design needs to be adjusted to be more user friendly.

Action Items

  • Determine website components that want to be tested
  • Develop questions that need to be tested for each component
  • Develop documentation for testing
  • Review test with team, leads and PMs
  • Have team conduct 2 usability tests using script
  • affinity map results during team meeting and determine takeaways

Resources/Instructions

We have determined that we need to test the carousel and the buttons within the carousel #96 #120

Here are the details about testing the carousel where the question is: "Is the carousel necessary for our website?"

team takeaways from results:

  • warning for outside links
  • need to shorten and rewrite website copy for clarity
    • navigation bar titles that were confusing
      • "get involved"
      • "data science roles"
  • need to keep home page shorter for less scrolling
  • keep both the carousel for new users and cards for repeat users
  • carousel needs to have more noticeable page indicators (arrows and circles)
    • cards will be 3 cards in 1 row
    • add titles/short blurbs at top of cards
  • needs to consider how this would be translated on mobile

@lrchang2 Would you be creating a new issue for the next steps listed here? We are working on the next steps right now.
