Summary

What we are after:
As the 2020 election is getting closer, the Press Office and the Information Division needs to be able to point users to the FEC's information on things the FEC does not do. The pages for this information are linked off our home page, but the Press Office has asked that we make them easier to find. We should do this before the 2020 election (so in PI13)

Pages we need to consider:

https://www.fec.gov/introduction-campaign-finance/election-day-information/ (page created by Info Division and used for tip and banner on Election Day) - it's linked off Citizens' page
https://www.fec.gov/introduction-campaign-finance/election-and-voting-information/ (page created by Public Records and used for housing election results and voting info on a year-round basis) - it's linked off Home Page, citizen's page.
https://www.fec.gov/press/resources-journalists/voting-and-ballot-access/ - Press page

Completion criteria

  • Meeting held to discuss these pages, including: analytics, SEO, wording, buttons, cross-links, and other ideas for improving findability of non-FEC-related election information. Consider: Maybe it's a matter of consolidating both pages into one (one home for content rule). In that case, who would be the owner that updates the information?
  • Follow up ticket created for work decided upon in meeting.

Closing this out. We will talk to @AmyKort and figure out next steps. We have a few ideas to present to her, and then we'll put in follow-up tickets.
