commit 103f611 upstream. Huge pages are not normally available to PV guests. Not suppressing hugetlbfs use results in an endless loop of page faults when user mode code tries to access a hugetlbfs mapped area (since the hypervisor denies such PTEs to be created, but error indications can't be propagated out of xen_set_pte_at(), just like for various of its siblings), and - once killed in an oops like this: kernel BUG at .../fs/hugetlbfs/inode.c:428! invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] SMP ... commit deba0a2 upstream. With the joys of things running concurrently, there's always a chance that the port we get passed in drm_dp_payload_send_msg() isn't actually valid anymore. Because of this, we need to make sure we validate the reference to the port before we use it otherwise we risk running into various race conditions. For instance, on the Dell MST monitor I have here for testing, hotplugging it enough times causes us to kernel panic: [drm:intel_mst_enable_dp] 1 [drm:drm_dp_update_payload_part2] payload 0 1 [drm:intel_get_hpd_pins] hotplug event received, stat 0x00200000, dig 0x10101011, pins 0x00000020 [drm:intel_hpd_irq_handler] digital hpd port B - short [drm:intel_dp_hpd_pulse] got hpd irq on port B - short [drm:intel_dp_check_mst_status] got esi 00 10 00 [drm:drm_dp_update_payload_part2] payload 1 1 general protection fault: 0000 [#1] SMP … Call Trace: [<ffffffffa012b632>] drm_dp_update_payload_part2+0xc2/0x130 [drm_kms_helper] [<ffffffffa032ef08>] intel_mst_enable_dp+0xf8/0x180 [i915] [<ffffffffa0310dbd>] haswell_crtc_enable+0x3ed/0x8c0 [i915] [<ffffffffa030c84d>] intel_atomic_commit+0x5ad/0x1590 [i915] [<ffffffffa01db877>] ? drm_atomic_set_crtc_for_connector+0x57/0xe0 [drm] [<ffffffffa01dc4e7>] drm_atomic_commit+0x37/0x60 [drm] [<ffffffffa0130a3a>] drm_atomic_helper_set_config+0x7a/0xb0 [drm_kms_helper] [<ffffffffa01cc482>] drm_mode_set_config_internal+0x62/0x100 [drm] [<ffffffffa01d02ad>] drm_mode_setcrtc+0x3cd/0x4e0 [drm] [<ffffffffa01c18e3>] drm_ioctl+0x143/0x510 [drm] [<ffffffffa01cfee0>] ? drm_mode_setplane+0x1b0/0x1b0 [drm] [<ffffffff810f79a7>] ? hrtimer_start_range_ns+0x1b7/0x3a0 [<ffffffff81212962>] do_vfs_ioctl+0x92/0x570 [<ffffffff81590852>] ? __sys_recvmsg+0x42/0x80 [<ffffffff81212eb9>] SyS_ioctl+0x79/0x90 [<ffffffff816b4e32>] entry_SYSCALL_64_fastpath+0x1a/0xa4 RIP [<ffffffffa012b026>] drm_dp_payload_send_msg+0x146/0x1f0 [drm_kms_helper] Which occurs because of the hotplug event shown in the log, which ends up causing DRM's dp helpers to drop the port we're updating the payload on and panic. commit 32cc92c upstream. For T4, kernel mode qps don't use the user doorbell. User mode qps during flow control db ringing are forced into kernel, where user doorbell is treated as kernel doorbell and proper bar2 offset in bar2 virtual space is calculated, which incase of T4 is a bogus address, causing a kernel panic due to illegal write during doorbell ringing. In case of T4, kernel mode qp bar2 virtual address should be 0. Added T4 check during bar2 virtual address calculation to return 0. Fixed Bar2 range checks based on bar2 physical address. The below oops will be fixed <1>BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 000000000002aa08 <1>IP: [<ffffffffa011d800>] c4iw_uld_control+0x4e0/0x880 [iw_cxgb4] <4>PGD 1416a8067 PUD 15bf35067 PMD 0 <4>Oops: 0002 [#1] SMP <4>last sysfs file: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.0/0000:02:00.4/infiniband/cxgb4_0/node_guid <4>CPU 5 <4>Modules linked in: rdma_ucm rdma_cm ib_cm ib_sa ib_mad ib_uverbs ip6table_filter ip6_tables ebtable_nat ebtables ipt_MASQUERADE iptable_nat nf_nat nf_conntrack_ipv4 nf_defrag_ipv4 xt_state nf_conntrack ipt_REJECT xt_CHECKSUM iptable_mangle iptable_filter ip_tables bridge autofs4 target_core_iblock target_core_file target_core_pscsi target_core_mod configfs bnx2fc cnic uio fcoe libfcoe libfc scsi_transport_fc scsi_tgt 8021q garp stp llc cpufreq_ondemand acpi_cpufreq freq_table mperf vhost_net macvtap macvlan tun kvm uinput microcode iTCO_wdt iTCO_vendor_support sg joydev serio_raw i2c_i801 i2c_core lpc_ich mfd_core e1000e ptp pps_core ioatdma dca i7core_edac edac_core shpchp ext3 jbd mbcache sd_mod crc_t10dif pata_acpi ata_generic ata_piix iw_cxgb4 iw_cm ib_core ib_addr cxgb4 ipv6 dm_mirror dm_region_hash dm_log dm_mod [last unloaded: scsi_wait_scan] <4> Supermicro X8ST3/X8ST3 <4>RIP: 0010:[<ffffffffa011d800>] [<ffffffffa011d800>] c4iw_uld_control+0x4e0/0x880 [iw_cxgb4] <4>RSP: 0000:ffff880155a03db0 EFLAGS: 00010006 <4>RAX: 000000000000001d RBX: ffff88013ae5fc00 RCX: ffff880155adb180 <4>RDX: 000000000002aa00 RSI: 0000000000000001 RDI: ffff88013ae5fdf8 <4>RBP: ffff880155a03e10 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000001 <4>R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000000 R12: 0000000000000000 <4>R13: 000000000000001d R14: ffff880156414ab0 R15: ffffe8ffffc05b88 <4>FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff8800282a0000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 <4>CS: 0010 DS: 0018 ES: 0018 CR0: 000000008005003b <4>CR2: 000000000002aa08 CR3: 000000015bd0e000 CR4: 00000000000007e0 <4>DR0: 0000000000000000 DR1: 0000000000000000 DR2: 0000000000000000 <4>DR3: 0000000000000000 DR6: 00000000ffff0ff0 DR7: 0000000000000400 <4>Process cxgb4 (pid: 394, threadinfo ffff880155a00000, task ffff880156414ab0) <4>Stack: <4> ffff880156415068 ffff880155adb180 ffff880155a03df0 ffffffffa00a344b <4><d> 00000000000003e8 ffff880155920000 0000000000000004 ffff880155920000 <4><d> ffff88015592d438 ffffffffa00a3860 ffff880155a03fd8 ffffe8ffffc05b88 <4>Call Trace: <4> [<ffffffffa00a344b>] ? enable_txq_db+0x2b/0x80 [cxgb4] <4> [<ffffffffa00a3860>] ? process_db_full+0x0/0xa0 [cxgb4] <4> [<ffffffffa00a38a6>] process_db_full+0x46/0xa0 [cxgb4] <4> [<ffffffff8109fda0>] worker_thread+0x170/0x2a0 <4> [<ffffffff810a6aa0>] ? autoremove_wake_function+0x0/0x40 <4> [<ffffffff8109fc30>] ? worker_thread+0x0/0x2a0 <4> [<ffffffff810a660e>] kthread+0x9e/0xc0 <4> [<ffffffff8100c28a>] child_rip+0xa/0x20 <4> [<ffffffff810a6570>] ? kthread+0x0/0xc0 <4> [<ffffffff8100c280>] ? child_rip+0x0/0x20 <4>Code: e9 ba 00 00 00 66 0f 1f 44 00 00 44 8b 05 29 07 02 00 45 85 c0 0f 85 71 02 00 00 8b 83 70 01 00 00 45 0f b7 ed c1 e0 0f 44 09 e8 <89> 42 08 0f ae f8 66 c7 83 82 01 00 00 00 00 44 0f b7 ab dc 01 <1>RIP [<ffffffffa011d800>] c4iw_uld_control+0x4e0/0x880 [iw_cxgb4] <4> RSP <ffff880155a03db0> <4>CR2: 000000000002aa08` Based on original work by Bharat Potnuri <[email protected]> Fixes: 74217d4 ("iw_cxgb4: support for bar2 qid densities exceeding the page size") Signed-off-by: Steve Wise <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Hariprasad Shenai <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Leon Romanovsky <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Doug Ledford <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <[email protected]>

An all around not pleasant experience. To avoid this scenario when finding the appropriate source mount to copy stop the walk up the mnt_master chain when the first source mount is encountered. Further rewrite the walk up the last_source mnt_master chain so that it is clear what is going on. The reason why the first source mount is special is that it it's mnt_parent is not a mount in the dest_mnt propagation tree, and as such termination conditions based up on the dest_mnt mount propgation tree do not make sense. To avoid other kinds of confusion last_dest is not changed when computing last_source. last_dest is only used once in propagate_one and that is above the point of the code being modified, so changing the global variable is meaningless and confusing. fixes: f2ebb3a ("smarter propagate_mnt()") Reported-by: Tycho Andersen <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Seth Forshee <[email protected]> Tested-by: Seth Forshee <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: "Eric W. The problem occurs because netem is not prepared to handle GSO packets (as it uses skb_checksum_help in its enqueue path, which cannot manipulate these frames). The solution I think is to simply segment the skb in a simmilar fashion to the way we do in __dev_queue_xmit (via validate_xmit_skb), with some minor changes. When we decide to corrupt an skb, if the frame is GSO, we segment it, corrupt the first segment, and enqueue the remaining ones. tested successfully by myself on the latest net kernel, to which this applies Signed-off-by: Neil Horman <[email protected]> CC: Jamal Hadi Salim <[email protected]> CC: "David S. commit 373a32c upstream. Both vhci_get_user and vhci_release race with open_timeout work. They both contain cancel_delayed_work_sync, but do not test whether the work actually created hdev or not. Since the work can be in progress and _sync will wait for finishing it, we can have data->hdev allocated when cancel_delayed_work_sync returns. But the call sites do 'if (data->hdev)' *before* cancel_delayed_work_sync. As a result: * vhci_get_user allocates a second hdev and puts it into data->hdev. The former is leaked. * vhci_release does not release data->hdev properly as it thinks there is none. Fix both cases by moving the actual test *after* the call to cancel_delayed_work_sync. This can be hit by this program: #include <err.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <time.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <sys/types.h> int main(int argc, char **argv) { int fd; srand(time(NULL)); while (1) { const int delta = (rand() % 200 - 100) * 100; fd = open("/dev/vhci", O_RDWR); if (fd < 0) err(1, "open"); usleep(1000000 + delta); close(fd); } return 0; } And the result is: BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in skb_queue_tail+0x13e/0x150 at addr ffff88006b0c1228 Read of size 8 by task kworker/u13:1/32068 ============================================================================= BUG kmalloc-192 (Tainted: G E ): kasan: bad access detected ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint INFO: Allocated in vhci_open+0x50/0x330 [hci_vhci] age=260 cpu=3 pid=32040 ... kmem_cache_alloc_trace+0x150/0x190 vhci_open+0x50/0x330 [hci_vhci] misc_open+0x35b/0x4e0 chrdev_open+0x23b/0x510 ... commit f0f3938 upstream. Commit ff1e22e ("xen/events: Mask a moving irq") open-coded irq_move_irq() but left out checking if the IRQ is disabled. This broke resuming from suspend since it tries to move a (disabled) irq without holding the IRQ's desc->lock. Fix it by adding in a check for disabled IRQs. The resulting stacktrace was: kernel BUG at /build/linux-UbQGH5/linux-4.4.0/kernel/irq/migration.c:31! invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] SMP Modules linked in: xenfs xen_privcmd ... [ Upstream commit a5c5e2d ] Unused fields of udp_cfg must be all zeros. Otherwise setup_udp_tunnel_sock() fills ->gro_receive and ->gro_complete callbacks with garbage, eventually resulting in panic when used by udp_gro_receive(). Syscalls should never crash programs, but instead return EFAULT. The IIR register contains the executed instruction, which disassebles into "ldw 0(sr3,r5),r9". This load-word instruction is part of __get_user() which tried to read the word at %r5/IOR (0xfa6f7fff). This means the unaligned handler jumped in. The unaligned handler is able to emulate all ldw instructions, but it fails if it fails to read the source e.g. because of page fault. The following program reproduces the problem: #define _GNU_SOURCE #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/syscall.h> #include <sys/mman.h> int main(void) { /* allocate 8k */ char *ptr = mmap(NULL, 2*4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0); /* free second half (upper 4k) and make it invalid. */ munmap(ptr+4096, 4096); /* syscall where first int is unaligned and clobbers into invalid memory region */ /* syscall should return EFAULT */ return syscall(__NR_clock_adjtime, 0, ptr+4095); } To fix this issue we simply need to check if the faulting instruction address is in the exception fixup table when the unaligned handler failed. If it is, call the fixup routine instead of crashing. While looking at the unaligned handler I found another issue as well: The target register should not be modified if the handler was unsuccessful. …offline_kmem() commit 3a06bb7 upstream. memcg_offline_kmem() may be called from memcg_free_kmem() after a css init failure. memcg_free_kmem() is a ->css_free callback which is called without cgroup_mutex and memcg_offline_kmem() ends up using css_for_each_descendant_pre() without any locking. SR-IOV code looks for arch specific data while enabling VFs. When VF device is added, driver probe function makes set of calls to initialize the pci device. Because the VF device is added different way than the normal PF device(which happens via of_create_pci_dev for sparc), some of the arch specific initialization does not happen for VF device. That causes panic when archdata is accessed. To fix this, I have used already defined weak function pcibios_setup_device to copy archdata from PF to VF. Also verified the fix. [ Upstream commit 7cafc0b ] We must handle data access exception as well as memory address unaligned exceptions from return from trap window fill faults, not just normal TLB misses. Otherwise we can get an OOPS that looks like this: ld-linux.so.2(36808): Kernel bad sw trap 5 [#1] CPU: 1 PID: 36808 Comm: ld-linux.so.2 Not tainted 4.6.0 raspberrypi#34 task: fff8000303be5c60 ti: fff8000301344000 task.ti: fff8000301344000 TSTATE: 0000004410001601 TPC: 0000000000a1a784 TNPC: 0000000000a1a788 Y: 00000002 Not tainted TPC: <do_sparc64_fault+0x5c4/0x700> g0: fff8000024fc8248 g1: 0000000000db04dc g2: 0000000000000000 g3: 0000000000000001 g4: fff8000303be5c60 g5: fff800030e672000 g6: fff8000301344000 g7: 0000000000000001 o0: 0000000000b95ee8 o1: 000000000000012b o2: 0000000000000000 o3: 0000000200b9b358 o4: 0000000000000000 o5: fff8000301344040 sp: fff80003013475c1 ret_pc: 0000000000a1a77c RPC: <do_sparc64_fault+0x5bc/0x700> l0: 00000000000007ff l1: 0000000000000000 l2: 000000000000005f l3: 0000000000000000 l4: fff8000301347e98 l5: fff8000024ff3060 l6: 0000000000000000 l7: 0000000000000000 i0: fff8000301347f60 i1: 0000000000102400 i2: 0000000000000000 i3: 0000000000000000 i4: 0000000000000000 i5: 0000000000000000 i6: fff80003013476a1 i7: 0000000000404d4c I7: <user_rtt_fill_fixup+0x6c/0x7c> Call Trace: [0000000000404d4c] user_rtt_fill_fixup+0x6c/0x7c The window trap handlers are slightly clever, the trap table entries for them are composed of two pieces of code. First comes the code that actually performs the window fill or spill trap handling, and then there are three instructions at the end which are for exception processing. The userland register window fill handler is: add %sp, STACK_BIAS + 0x00, %g1; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g0] ASI, %l0; \ mov 0x08, %g2; \ mov 0x10, %g3; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g2] ASI, %l1; \ mov 0x18, %g5; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g3] ASI, %l2; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g5] ASI, %l3; \ add %g1, 0x20, %g1; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g0] ASI, %l4; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g2] ASI, %l5; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g3] ASI, %l6; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g5] ASI, %l7; \ add %g1, 0x20, %g1; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g0] ASI, %i0; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g2] ASI, %i1; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g3] ASI, %i2; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g5] ASI, %i3; \ add %g1, 0x20, %g1; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g0] ASI, %i4; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g2] ASI, %i5; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g3] ASI, %i6; \ ldxa [%g1 + %g5] ASI, %i7; \ restored; \ retry; nop; nop; nop; nop; \ b,a,pt %xcc, fill_fixup_dax; \ b,a,pt %xcc, fill_fixup_mna; \ b,a,pt %xcc, fill_fixup; And the way this works is that if any of those memory accesses generate an exception, the exception handler can revector to one of those final three branch instructions depending upon which kind of exception the memory access took. In this way, the fault handler doesn't have to know if it was a spill or a fill that it's handling the fault for. It just always branches to the last instruction in the parent trap's handler. For example, for a regular fault, the code goes: winfix_trampoline: rdpr %tpc, %g3 or %g3, 0x7c, %g3 wrpr %g3, %tnpc done All window trap handlers are 0x80 aligned, so if we "or" 0x7c into the trap time program counter, we'll get that final instruction in the trap handler. On return from trap, we have to pull the register window in but we do this by hand instead of just executing a "restore" instruction for several reasons. The largest being that from Niagara and onward we simply don't have enough levels in the trap stack to fully resolve all possible exception cases of a window fault when we are already at trap level 1 (which we enter to get ready to return from the original trap). This is executed inline via the FILL_*_RTRAP handlers. rtrap_64.S's code branches directly to these to do the window fill by hand if necessary. Now if you look at them, we'll see at the end: ba,a,pt %xcc, user_rtt_fill_fixup; ba,a,pt %xcc, user_rtt_fill_fixup; ba,a,pt %xcc, user_rtt_fill_fixup; And oops, all three cases are handled like a fault. This doesn't work because each of these trap types (data access exception, memory address unaligned, and faults) store their auxiliary info in different registers to pass on to the C handler which does the real work. So in the case where the stack was unaligned, the unaligned trap handler sets up the arg registers one way, and then we branched to the fault handler which expects them setup another way. So the FAULT_TYPE_* value ends up basically being garbage, and randomly would generate the backtrace seen above. Reported-by: Nick Alcock <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: David S. commit 27a41a8 upstream. Under stress occasions some TI devices might not return early when reading the status register during the quirk invocation of xhci_irq made by usb_hcd_pci_remove. This means that instead of returning, we end up handling this interruption in the middle of a shutdown. Since xhci->event_ring has already been freed in xhci_mem_cleanup, we end up accessing freed memory, causing the Oops below. commit 8c24d6d ("usb: xhci: stop everything on the first call to xhci_stop") is the one that changed the instant in which we clean up the event queue when stopping a device. Before, we didn't call xhci_mem_cleanup at the first time xhci_stop is executed (for the shared HCD), instead, we only did it after the invocation for the primary HCD, much later at the removal path. The code flow for this oops looks like this: xhci_pci_remove() usb_remove_hcd(xhci->shared) xhci_stop(xhci->shared) xhci_halt() xhci_mem_cleanup(xhci); // Free the event_queue usb_hcd_pci_remove(primary) xhci_irq() // Access the event_queue if STS_EINT is set. Crash. xhci_stop() xhci_halt() // return early The fix modifies xhci_stop to only cleanup the xhci data when releasing the primary HCD. This way, we still have the event_queue configured when invoking xhci_irq. We still halt the device on the first call to xhci_stop, though. I could reproduce this issue several times on the mainline kernel by doing a bind-unbind stress test with a specific storage gadget attached. I also ran the same test over-night with my patch applied and didn't observe the issue anymore. commit fe7a7c5 upstream. Currently, the mesh paths associated with a nexthop station are cleaned up in the following code path: __sta_info_destroy_part1 synchronize_net() __sta_info_destroy_part2 -> cleanup_single_sta -> mesh_sta_cleanup -> mesh_plink_deactivate -> mesh_path_flush_by_nexthop However, there are a couple of problems here: 1) the paths aren't flushed at all if the MPM is running in userspace (e.g. when using wpa_supplicant or authsae) 2) there is no synchronize_rcu between removing the path and readers accessing the nexthop, which means the following race is possible: CPU0 CPU1 ~~~~ ~~~~ sta_info_destroy_part1() synchronize_net() rcu_read_lock() mesh_nexthop_resolve() mpath = mesh_path_lookup() [...] -> mesh_path_flush_by_nexthop() sta = rcu_dereference( mpath->next_hop) kfree(sta) access sta <-- CRASH Fix both of these by unconditionally flushing paths before destroying the sta, and by adding a synchronize_net() after path flush to ensure no active readers can still dereference the sta. commit 8e96a87 upstream. Userspace can quite legitimately perform an exec() syscall with a suspended transaction. exec() does not return to the old process, rather it load a new one and starts that, the expectation therefore is that the new process starts not in a transaction. Currently exec() is not treated any differently to any other syscall which creates problems. Firstly it could allow a new process to start with a suspended transaction for a binary that no longer exists. This means that the checkpointed state won't be valid and if the suspended transaction were ever to be resumed and subsequently aborted (a possibility which is exceedingly likely as exec()ing will likely doom the transaction) the new process will jump to invalid state. Secondly the incorrect attempt to keep the transactional state while still zeroing state for the new process creates at least two TM Bad Things. The first triggers on the rfid to return to userspace as start_thread() has given the new process a 'clean' MSR but the suspend will still be set in the hardware MSR. The second TM Bad Thing triggers in __switch_to() as the processor is still transactionally suspended but __switch_to() wants to zero the TM sprs for the new process. This is an example of the outcome of calling exec() with a suspended transaction. Note the first 700 is likely the first TM bad thing decsribed earlier only the kernel can't report it as we've loaded userspace registers. c000000000009980 is the rfid in fast_exception_return() Bad kernel stack pointer 3fffcfa1a370 at c000000000009980 Oops: Bad kernel stack pointer, sig: 6 [#1] CPU: 0 PID: 2006 Comm: tm-execed Not tainted NIP: c000000000009980 LR: 0000000000000000 CTR: 0000000000000000 REGS: c00000003ffefd40 TRAP: 0700 Not tainted MSR: 8000000300201031 <SF,ME,IR,DR,LE,TM[SE]> CR: 00000000 XER: 00000000 CFAR: c0000000000098b4 SOFTE: 0 PACATMSCRATCH: b00000010000d033 GPR00: 0000000000000000 00003fffcfa1a370 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 GPR04: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 GPR08: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 GPR12: 00003fff966611c0 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 NIP [c000000000009980] fast_exception_return+0xb0/0xb8 LR [0000000000000000] (null) Call Trace: Instruction dump: f84d0278 e9a100d8 7c7b03a6 e84101a0 7c4ff120 e8410170 7c5a03a6 e8010070 e8410080 e8610088 e8810090 e8210078 <4c000024> 48000000 e8610178 88ed023b Kernel BUG at c000000000043e80 [verbose debug info unavailable] Unexpected TM Bad Thing exception at c000000000043e80 (msr 0x201033) Oops: Unrecoverable exception, sig: 6 [raspberrypi#2] CPU: 0 PID: 2006 Comm: tm-execed Tainted: G D task: c0000000fbea6d80 ti: c00000003ffec000 task.ti: c0000000fb7ec000 NIP: c000000000043e80 LR: c000000000015a24 CTR: 0000000000000000 REGS: c00000003ffef7e0 TRAP: 0700 Tainted: G D MSR: 8000000300201033 <SF,ME,IR,DR,RI,LE,TM[SE]> CR: 28002828 XER: 00000000 CFAR: c000000000015a20 SOFTE: 0 PACATMSCRATCH: b00000010000d033 GPR00: 0000000000000000 c00000003ffefa60 c000000000db5500 c0000000fbead000 GPR04: 8000000300001033 2222222222222222 2222222222222222 00000000ff160000 GPR08: 0000000000000000 800000010000d033 c0000000fb7e3ea0 c00000000fe00004 GPR12: 0000000000002200 c00000000fe00000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 GPR16: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 GPR20: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 c0000000fbea7410 00000000ff160000 GPR24: c0000000ffe1f600 c0000000fbea8700 c0000000fbea8700 c0000000fbead000 GPR28: c000000000e20198 c0000000fbea6d80 c0000000fbeab680 c0000000fbea6d80 NIP [c000000000043e80] tm_restore_sprs+0xc/0x1c LR [c000000000015a24] __switch_to+0x1f4/0x420 Call Trace: Instruction dump: 7c800164 4e800020 7c0022a6 f80304a8 7c0222a6 f80304b0 7c0122a6 f80304b8 4e800020 e80304a8 7c0023a6 e80304b0 <7c0223a6> e80304b8 7c0123a6 4e800020 This fixes CVE-2016-5828. The lock struct is initialized like so in filp_close() and passed down to cifs ... lock.fl_type = F_UNLCK; lock.fl_flags = FL_POSIX | FL_CLOSE; lock.fl_start = 0; lock.fl_end = OFFSET_MAX; ... Note the FL_CLOSE flag, which hints the VFS code that this unlocking is done for closing the fd. filp_close() locks_remove_posix(filp, id); vfs_lock_file(filp, F_SETLK, &lock, NULL); return filp->f_op->lock(filp, cmd, fl) => cifs_lock() rc = cifs_setlk(file, flock, type, wait_flag, posix_lck, lock, unlock, xid); rc = server->ops->mand_unlock_range(cfile, flock, xid); if (flock->fl_flags & FL_POSIX && !rc) rc = locks_lock_file_wait(file, flock) Notice how we don't call locks_lock_file_wait() which does the generic VFS lock/unlock/wait work on the inode if rc != 0. If we are closing the handle, the SMB server is supposed to remove any locks associated with it. Similarly, cifs.ko frees and wakes up any lock and lock waiter when closing the file: cifs_close() cifsFileInfo_put(file->private_data) /* * Delete any outstanding lock records. We'll lose them when the file * is closed anyway. */ down_write(&cifsi->lock_sem); list_for_each_entry_safe(li, tmp, &cifs_file->llist->locks, llist) { list_del(&li->llist); cifs_del_lock_waiters(li); kfree(li); } list_del(&cifs_file->llist->llist); kfree(cifs_file->llist); up_write(&cifsi->lock_sem); So we can safely ignore unlocking failures in cifs_lock() if they happen with the FL_CLOSE flag hint set as both the server and the client take care of it during the actual closing. This is not a proper fix for the unlocking failure but it's safe and it seems to prevent the lock leakages and crashes the customer experiences. [ Upstream commit 4c62764 ] While running regressions, observed below kernel panic when sdio disconnect called. This is because of, kthread_stop() is taking care of wait_for_completion() by default. When wait_for_completion triggered in kthread_stop and as it was done already, giving kernel panic. Hence, removing redundant wait_for_completion() from rsi_kill_thread(). ... skipping ... [ Upstream commit cd24e45 ] When a PRRN event is received we are already running in a worker thread. Instead of spawning off another worker thread on the prrn_work workqueue to handle the PRRN event we can just call the PRRN handler routine directly. With this update we can also pass the scope variable for the PRRN event directly to the handler instead of it being a global variable. This patch fixes the following oops mnessage we are seeing in PRRN testing: Oops: Bad kernel stack pointer, sig: 6 [#1] SMP NR_CPUS=2048 NUMA pSeries Modules linked in: nfsv3 nfs_acl rpcsec_gss_krb5 auth_rpcgss nfsv4 dns_resolver nfs lockd grace sunrpc fscache binfmt_misc reiserfs vfat fat rpadlpar_io(X) rpaphp(X) tcp_diag udp_diag inet_diag unix_diag af_packet_diag netlink_diag af_packet xfs libcrc32c dm_service_time ibmveth(X) ses enclosure scsi_transport_sas rtc_generic btrfs xor raid6_pq sd_mod ibmvscsi(X) scsi_transport_srp ipr(X) libata sg dm_multipath dm_mod scsi_dh_rdac scsi_dh_emc scsi_dh_alua scsi_mod autofs4 Supported: Yes, External 54 CPU: 7 PID: 18967 Comm: kworker/u96:0 Tainted: G X 4.4.126-94.22-default #1 Workqueue: pseries hotplug workque pseries_hp_work_fn task: c000000775367790 ti: c00000001ebd4000 task.ti: c00000070d140000 NIP: 0000000000000000 LR: 000000001fb3d050 CTR: 0000000000000000 REGS: c00000001ebd7d40 TRAP: 0700 Tainted: G X (4.4.126-94.22-default) MSR: 8000000102081000 <41,VEC,ME5 CR: 28000002 XER: 20040018 4 CFAR: 000000001fb3d084 40 419 1 3 GPR00: 000000000000000040000000000010007 000000001ffff400 000000041fffe200 GPR04: 000000000000008050000000000000000 000000001fb15fa8 0000000500000500 GPR08: 000000000001f40040000000000000001 0000000000000000 000005:5200040002 GPR12: 00000000000000005c000000007a05400 c0000000000e89f8 000000001ed9f668 GPR16: 000000001fbeff944000000001fbeff94 000000001fb545e4 0000006000000060 GPR20: ffffffffffffffff4ffffffffffffffff 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 GPR24: 00000000000000005400000001fb3c000 0000000000000000 000000001fb1b040 GPR28: 000000001fb240004000000001fb440d8 0000000000000008 0000000000000000 NIP [0000000000000000] 5 (null) LR [000000001fb3d050] 031fb3d050 Call Trace: 4 Instruction dump: 4 5:47 12 2 XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX4XX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX5XX XXXXXXXX 60000000 60000000 60000000 60000000 ---[ end trace aa5627b04a7d9d6b ]--- 3NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#27 stuck for 23s! [ Upstream commit bd18bff ] A VMEnter that VMFails (as opposed to VMExits) does not touch host state beyond registers that are explicitly noted in the VMFail path, e.g. EFLAGS. Host state does not need to be loaded because VMFail is only signaled for consistency checks that occur before the CPU starts to load guest state, i.e. there is no need to restore any state as nothing has been modified. But in the case where a VMFail is detected by hardware and not by KVM (due to deferring consistency checks to hardware), KVM has already loaded some amount of guest state. Luckily, "loaded" only means loaded to KVM's software model, i.e. vmcs01 has not been modified. So, unwind our software model to the pre-VMEntry host state. Not restoring host state in this VMFail path leads to a variety of failures because we end up with stale data in vcpu->arch, e.g. CR0, CR4, EFER, etc... will all be out of sync relative to vmcs01. Any significant delta in the stale data is all but guaranteed to crash L1, e.g. emulation of SMEP, SMAP, UMIP, WP, etc... will be wrong. An alternative to this "soft" reload would be to load host state from vmcs12 as if we triggered a VMExit (as opposed to VMFail), but that is wildly inconsistent with respect to the VMX architecture, e.g. an L1 VMM with separate VMExit and VMFail paths would explode. Note that this approach does not mean KVM is 100% accurate with respect to VMX hardware behavior, even at an architectural level (the exact order of consistency checks is microarchitecture specific). But 100% emulation accuracy isn't the goal (with this patch), rather the goal is to be consistent in the information delivered to L1, e.g. a VMExit should not fall-through VMENTER, and a VMFail should not jump to HOST_RIP. This technically reverts commit "5af4157388ad (KVM: nVMX: Fix mmu context after VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME failure)", but retains the core aspects of that patch, just in an open coded form due to the need to pull state from vmcs01 instead of vmcs12. Restoring host state resolves a variety of issues introduced by commit "4f350c6dbcb9 (kvm: nVMX: Handle deferred early VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME failure properly)", which remedied the incorrect behavior of treating VMFail like VMExit but in doing so neglected to restore arch state that had been modified prior to attempting nested VMEnter. A sample failure that occurs due to stale vcpu.arch state is a fault of some form while emulating an LGDT (due to emulated UMIP) from L1 after a failed VMEntry to L3, in this case when running the KVM unit test test_tpr_threshold_values in L1. [ Upstream commit 69216a5 ] The SHA256 code we adopted from the OpenSSL project uses a rather peculiar way to take the address of the round constant table: it takes the address of the sha256_block_data_order() routine, and substracts a constant known quantity to arrive at the base of the table, which is emitted by the same assembler code right before the routine's entry point. However, recent versions of binutils have helpfully changed the behavior of references emitted via an ADR instruction when running in Thumb2 mode: it now takes the Thumb execution mode bit into account, which is bit 0 af the address. This means the produced table address also has bit 0 set, and so we end up with an address value pointing 1 byte past the start of the table, which results in crashes such as Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address bf825000 pgd = 42f44b11 [bf825000] *pgd=80000040206003, *pmd=5f1bd003, *pte=00000000 Internal error: Oops: 207 [#1] PREEMPT SMP THUMB2 Modules linked in: sha256_arm(+) sha1_arm_ce sha1_arm ... [ Upstream commit cffaaf0 ] Commit 5738459 ("iommu/vt-d: Store bus information in RMRR PCI device path") changed the type of the path data, however, the change in path type was not reflected in size calculations. Update to use the correct type and prevent a buffer overflow. This bug manifests in systems with deep PCI hierarchies, and can lead to an overflow of the static allocated buffer (dmar_pci_notify_info_buf), or can lead to overflow of slab-allocated data. commit 7f75591 upstream. This fixes a possible circular locking dependency detected warning seen with: - CONFIG_PROVE_LOCKING=y - consumer/provider IIO devices (ex: "voltage-divider" consumer of "adc") When using the IIO consumer interface, e.g. iio_channel_get(), the consumer device will likely call iio_read_channel_raw() or similar that rely on 'info_exist_lock' mutex. typically: ... mutex_lock(&chan->indio_dev->info_exist_lock); if (chan->indio_dev->info == NULL) { ret = -ENODEV; goto err_unlock; } ret = do_some_ops() err_unlock: mutex_unlock(&chan->indio_dev->info_exist_lock); return ret; ... Same mutex is also hold in iio_device_unregister().
