Describe your pull request here

Please read the guidelines for Bioconda recipes before opening a pull request (PR).

General instructions

  • If this PR adds or updates a recipe, use "Add" or "Update" appropriately as the first word in its title.
  • New recipes not directly relevant to the biological sciences need to be submitted to the conda-forge channel instead of Bioconda.
  • PRs require reviews prior to being merged. Once your PR is passing tests and ready to be merged, please issue the @BiocondaBot please add label command.
  • Please post questions on Gitter or ping @bioconda/core in a comment.

Instructions for avoiding API, ABI, and CLI breakage issues

Conda is able to record and lock (a.k.a. pin) dependency versions used at build time of other recipes.
This way, one can avoid that expectations of a downstream recipe with regards to API, ABI, or CLI are violated by later changes in the recipe.
If not already present in the meta.yaml, make sure to specify run_exports (see here for the rationale and comprehensive explanation).
Add a run_exports section like this:

build:
  run_exports:
    - ...

with ... being one of:

Case run_exports statement
semantic versioning {{ pin_subpackage("myrecipe", max_pin="x") }}
semantic versioning (0.x.x) {{ pin_subpackage("myrecipe", max_pin="x.x") }}
known breakage in minor versions {{ pin_subpackage("myrecipe", max_pin="x.x") }} (in such a case, please add a note that shortly mentions your evidence for that)
known breakage in patch versions {{ pin_subpackage("myrecipe", max_pin="x.x.x") }} (in such a case, please add a note that shortly mentions your evidence for that)
calendar versioning {{ pin_subpackage("myrecipe", max_pin=None) }}

while replacing "myrecipe" with either name if a name|lower variable is defined in your recipe or with the lowercase name of the package in quotes.

Walkthrough

The pull request includes updates to the meta.yaml file for the gempipe package. The version number is incremented from 1.37.0 to 1.37.3. The source URL has been changed to a GitHub archive format, replacing the previous PyPI source. The SHA256 checksum has also been updated to reflect the new package version. In the dependencies section, the poetry-core dependency is updated to require version >=1.8.1, and ipython is added as a host requirement with a minimum version of >=8.7.0. The seaborn-base dependency is renamed to seaborn, maintaining the version constraint of >=0.13.0. Minor formatting adjustments include adding a trailing slash to the doc_url field. The overall structure of the meta.yaml file remains unchanged in terms of logic or control flow.

2-2: LGTM: Version update to 1.37.3

75-75: LGTM: Documentation URL format update

The addition of trailing slash to the documentation URL is a valid improvement.

54-54: Verify seaborn package rename

The dependency has been changed from seaborn-base to seaborn. This change needs verification to ensure it's intentional and follows Conda packaging guidelines.

✅ Verification successful

The previous script didn't correctly search for seaborn packages. Let me try again with a more focused search.

Change from seaborn-base to seaborn is correct and follows current practices

The change from seaborn-base to seaborn is valid because:

  • Both packages exist in conda-forge, with seaborn being the primary package
  • The majority of recipes in the repository use seaborn rather than seaborn-base
  • The version requirement (>=0.13.0) is available in both packages
  • Recent recipes tend to use seaborn over seaborn-base, indicating this is the preferred package name
🏁 Scripts executed

The following scripts were executed for the analysis:

Script:

#!/bin/bash
# Description: Verify seaborn package naming convention

# Check if other recipes use seaborn or seaborn-base
rg --type yaml "seaborn.*>=.*" recipes/

# Check if seaborn package exists in conda-forge
curl -s https://conda.anaconda.org/conda-forge/noarch/repodata.json | jq '.packages | keys[] | select(startswith("seaborn"))'

Length of output: 2681

Script:

#!/bin/bash
# Search for seaborn dependencies in yaml files
rg --type yaml "seaborn.*" recipes/

# Check conda-forge for seaborn packages specifically
curl -s "https://api.anaconda.org/package/conda-forge/seaborn" -H "accept: application/json" | jq '.versions[]' -r

# Also check for seaborn-base
curl -s "https://api.anaconda.org/package/conda-forge/seaborn-base" -H "accept: application/json" | jq '.versions[]' -r

Length of output: 12175

11-15: Verify GitHub release and checksum

The source has been changed from PyPI to GitHub releases. Let's verify:

  1. The GitHub release exists
  2. The checksum is correct for the release tarball

💡 Codebase verification

Based on the search results, I can generate the final response now:

Poetry dependencies need adjustment

The codebase analysis shows that most recipes use either poetry or poetry-core, but rarely both. When poetry is used as a dependency, it's typically for build automation and CLI tools, while poetry-core is used for build backend functionality. Since this is a recipe, poetry-core alone should be sufficient as the build backend.

  • Remove poetry >=1.7.1 as it's not typically needed as a runtime dependency
  • Keep poetry-core >=1.8.1 for build backend support
🔗 Analysis chain

Verify poetry dependencies compatibility

The addition of both poetry and poetry-core with specific version constraints needs verification:

  1. Are these versions compatible with each other?
  2. Is poetry needed in addition to poetry-core?
🏁 Scripts executed

The following scripts were executed for the analysis:

Script:

#!/bin/bash
# Description: Check poetry and poetry-core compatibility

# Search for any existing poetry configurations
fd -e pyproject.toml -x cat {} \; | grep -A 5 "\[build-system\]"

# Check if other recipes use both poetry and poetry-core
rg --type yaml "poetry.*>=.*" recipes/

Length of output: 2681
