User Testing of UI and sounds effect
UI screen_ user and sounds effect testing :
This is divided into five sections, each with a perfect score of 5, namely Aesthetics, Conforming to style, Music sound effect, Conforming to style, Consistency.
Session run by: HAO LIANG and Game Name: Studio 7 – Retroactive Feature Team Name: Team 5 Location of Testing: Discord Number of Participants: 4
So far the game is almost complete, working with other teams we have borrowed their already designed characters and maps to complete the game's Game_win screen and lose_screen. We will also have a button and screen application that will pause the game when the player is playing with the button. We have also fixed a bug left over from the last sprint1 timer. Better still, we have designed different sound effects for the different game endings. The game will be more fun!
We need to understand what users think of the new screens. We also need to find out what users think about the time rule (we have created several rules to make the game more interesting). We also asked different groups of designers to experience our sound design, to leave their comments and to improve it.
A gameplay testing session will be conducted as this will give the most accurate results for what the user test is trying to test. win_screen:https://github.com/UQdeco2800/2021-studio-7/blob/main/source/core/assets/images/ui/screens/win_screen.png lose_screen:https://github.com/UQdeco2800/2021-studio-7/blob/main/source/core/assets/images/ui/screens/lose_screen.png pasue_screen:https://github.com/UQdeco2800/2021-studio-7/blob/main/source/core/assets/images/ui/screens/paused_screen.png sounds effect:https://github.com/UQdeco2800/2021-studio-7/tree/main/source/core/assets/sounds
There will have three user tests:
1.Graphic screen 2.Timer 3.Music sound
Graphic and Music sound: This is divided into five sections, each with a perfect score of 5, namely Aesthetics, Conforming to style, Music sound effect, Conforming to style, Consistency.
Team 5’s feature is the game loop, where we have created win and loss screens that are triggered currently by simulation but will be incorporated with another feature team (Team 2) who are working on the interactable objects and associated effects of ‘Retroactive.’ In addition, the timer created will also be incorporated with ‘Team 2.’
We chose to user test this feature as it is a major part of the game and is highly visual based, so we want the design to be what people want and the timer is still going through iterations of design choices
We add some game rules to make the game more interesting.
Will keep creating tests as new functionality is added to the timer as the game progresses.
The time will start at 8 am. Time will speed up at 2pm. When the timer reaches 24:00. Game will be over, the time_out screen will be shown.
We used a google doc to get the views of different people: here is link our user test google doc:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1p1vN5LpxqUtGS9u3onjubeLC98btibIhgO6GdUYHkhk/edit
I like this screen! because it is more similar to the theme of our game, and the simple cartoon characters make it comfortable to look at. It will give a clean impression to people's eyes.
But there is a slight drawback, it may not reflect this element of the 80s very well, but it is a good screen
This is an interesting rule that will make the challenge more difficult for players and will interest them.
I love the sound effects of winning games, especially the pleasure of winning a game.
The start time should be at night, because logically, mother will check if you go to bed at night. I like the rule of speeding up, but don't let it last too long. Accelerating for a long time will make the user get used to it and lose tension. I personally recommend speed up in the last hour or two.
I like your redo of win screen and lose screen, the pixelated graphics are very pleasant, but I think the music when the game fails might need some work.timer rule sounds interesting
