Edit the plist and add the kext into the folder.

Mac runs its cores on about 1.2 Ghz all the time to be responsive. This drains battery faster.

800Mhz y

Default Balanced Power

What you get is a default CPU speed of roughly 900Mhz -1000 Mhz so ou save 200 Mhz of wasted CPU -this saves power.

I'm using 800MHz and balanced performance. With balanced power the CPU never get the Intel turbo boost (limited to some seconds), but if you only need battery life -balanced power is safe choice, but if like to use your CPU for some heavy task not forgetting battery life - balanced performance is the choice.
