Growthcraft Milk
This module adds a new purpose for Milk. With this mod Milk becomes an actual fluid that you can use for various recipes and process it into useful items such as cheese, kumis, and butter.
The butter churn is used to make butter. The churn is crafted using one stick (S) and five wooden planks (P).

The cheese press is created with five Iron Ingots (I), a chest (C), and three wooden planks (P).

The cheese vat is used for making various cheese items. It is crafted by placing a Brew Kettle in a crafting grid.
The pancheon is used to produce Skim Milk and Cream. It is crafted by combining five Clay Balls in a crafting table.

Beeswax is integral in sealing your cheese to preserve and age it. It is used to coat unaged Cheddar and Monterey cheese and comes in three different variants: Plain, Red, and Black.
Butter is an edible item and comes in two variants unsalted and salted. It is produced by placing Milk into a Butter Churn .
Stomach drops from baby cows. It is boiled in the Brew Kettle to produce Rennet.
Cheesecloth is used to strain whey from curds during the cheese making process and it is needed when producing an unaged cheese wheel.
Ice cream is an edible item that comes in lots of variants.
Starter culture is integral to the cheese making process. It is crafted by placing skim milk in a heated culture jar.
Thistle is a flower that spreads like a mushroom. It spawns naturally on grass blocks in the extreme hills (and variants) biome. It is harvested using your hands. The thistle can be used as an alternative to calf stomach for making Rennet.
Yogurt is an edible item.
There are eight different variants to cheese: Cheddar, Gorgonzola, Swiss, Appenzeller, Asiago, Parmasan, Monterey, and Ricotta. Cheese is made by placing Milk, Starter Culture, Rennet into the Cheese Vat to produce Cheese Curds. You can then take these curds to make a cheese variant. For more information you can follow our [detailed walkthrough](Growthcraft Milk Cheese Production) or the abreviated steps below.
Killerjdog51
- Player places Vat over heat source
- Player fills Vat with 5 buckets of Milk
- Player places 1 starter culture into Vat
- Player places 1 bottle of Rennet into Vat (You could use a bucket but then you'd waste like 666 milibuckets)
- Player right clicks Vat with sword (This is either to break up the curds or to stir it, not sure which but its required)
- Wait for liquid in Vat to turn green, this is Whey fluid
- Player extracts Whey fluid from Vat with bucket (You could use bottles but that will leave 1 milibucket of whey left, & visually not good)
- Player inserts cheese ingredients into Vat. (for Cheddar just put in a salt and orange dye)
- Player waits for Vat to change color again (in this case with Cheddar it will turn an orange-ish yellow color)
- Player right clicks Vat with Cheese Cloth to extract Cheese Curds (this should completely drain the vat, unless you used bottles for whey, uh oh)
- Player hangs Cheese curds under block (this will drain the curds)
- Player right clicks curds when done draining and should pop off
- Player places drained curds into cheese press and presses down
- After about 2 minutes or so the curds will be done, you can unpress the cheese press and right click with your hand to have unaged cheese block
- Place unaged cheese block on ground, after about 2 minutes will change texture and be ready (unless its Cheddar or Monterey, in that case you have to wax the cheese after placing it on the ground)
The ricotta cheese process is an abbreviated version of the regular cheese process.
- Use whey instead of milk.
- Skip the cheese ingredients step and go straight to straining it out with the cheese cloth.
- After pressing your drained ricotta curds, you do not age them. Instead, craft it with four wooden bowls to produce four ricotta bowls.
Butter milk is a new drink.
Cream is used to make butter and ice cream.
Kumis is a fermented dairy beverage. It has a low alcohol content, comparable to a lite ale. When using Cow's Milk instead of the traditional mare's milk the recipe caps out around 4.5% ABV. Growthcraft Milk provides five variations of Kumis.
Fermented Fermented, Potent Extended, Fermented Hyper-extended, Fermented Fermented, Intoxicated
Milk can be used as a drink, in making cheese, butter, ice cream, and yogurt.
Skim milk is used as a drink and in making starter culture with the culture jar.
Skim milk is produced by placing a bucket of Milk into the Pancheon.
Skim Milk can be placed into a heated culture jar to produce starter cultures () for making cheese.
Skim Milk can also be placed in bottles for drinking. Drinking Skim Milk removes negative effects (like vanilla Milk) and heals a small amount of hunger and saturation. With fantasy effects enabled, Skim Milk provides a Speed boost.
Rennet is produced by boiling Stomach or thistle with Water in the Brew Kettle.
Saltwater is used in the Brew Kettle to make Salt. You collect saltwater by scooping up the water in an Ocean Biome with a bottle or bucket. The buckets/bottles of Salt Water can also be used in a furnace to produce a Salt Bucket/Bottle, which can be the salt itself.
All good things can turn bad. Vile Milk has a percentage of a chance to inflict a harmful effect to those that consume it. Currently this is a creative only fluid.
Whey is drinkable and used while making ricotta cheese.
A device used for the creation of butter.
Can be created from milk. However, this is a little bit complicated. First, one must create a cheese vat, and pour milk in it. The cheese vat requires a source of heat. Then, if desired, a starter culture of certain bacteria can be added, to give the cheese certain characteristics. Milk from certain mobs, such as Water Buffalo, can be used to make different forms of cheese. Some cheeses require secondary processes to gain their characteristics.
Cheese vat: A device, used for the creation of cheese.
Starter Culture: Various bacteria used to start the fermentation of cheese. They can be created by putting milk in a fermentation jar.
Rennet: Various enzymes found in the stomachs of certain animals, it is obtained by killing cows and boiling their stomachs, or boiling thistle.
Thistle: An alternative way to produce rennet, can be found at Extreme Hills biomes (and its modded variants) and is used just like the stomachs at rennet process.
