Satellite Network Update on May 31, 2022
On May 31, 2022, at noon UTC (12:00), the carriers transmitted over the Telstar 11N Africa and Europe regions will be relocated to new frequencies. Hence, users in these regions must upgrade the CLI and reconfigure/restart the receiver to continue with the reception. Users covered by the other satellites do not need to take any action.
The required CLI software upgrade will be made available on the referred date, May 31, 2022, by 11:00 UTC (one hour in advance). So make sure to check back around this time and proceed with the following steps.
To download the upgraded CLI version, run:
sudo pip3 install blocksat-cli --upgrade
Next, verify that the CLI has the new version by running:
blocksat-cli --version
The result should be blocksat-cli 0.4.4
.
Next, proceed with the receiver-specific instructions given below. Please note that, regardless of your receiver type, you should see the following logs when executing the CLI for the first time after the upgrade:
INFO Updating the T11N AFR DL frequency from 11480.7 MHz to 11452.1 MHz
or
INFO Updating the T11N EU DL frequency from 11484.3 MHz to 11505.4 MHz
If you are running an SDR receiver, relaunch the receiver to continue with the reception:
blocksat-cli sdr
If you are using a TBS 5927 or TBS 5520SE USB receiver, first, you will need to redefine the channel configuration file:
blocksat-cli cfg channel
Answer "Y" to remove and regenerate the configuration file.
Next, relaunch the receiver:
blocksat-cli usb launch
If you are using a Novra S400 standalone receiver (pro kit receiver), run the following command to reconfigure the receiver:
blocksat-cli standalone cfg --rx-only
After that, you can confirm the S400 is locked to the new frequency by relaunching the monitoring tool:
blocksat-cli standalone monitor
If you are using the Satellite Base Station receiver, relaunch the Sat-IP client to continue with the reception:
blocksat-cli sat-ip
