DO NOT MERGE: Based on an ancient master
The #2991 branch was accidentally deleted. This restores its contents as a new branch. See #2991 conversations for the purpose of this PR. See also #2992 .
The demonstration is intended against #2966 which had failed with a mysterious bug. This PR was supposed to demonstrate how to make the bug report less mysterious. However, #2966 's branch has also been deleted.
It looks like the test log at https://github.com/Agoric/agoric-sdk/pull/2991/checks?check_run_id=2453721017#step:7:1249 was also deleted. Attn @Chris-Hibbert @warner
