Please restart GNOME Shell after making extensive changes to the TaskBar settings:
X11: [ Alt ]-[ F2 ] + [ r ].
Wayland: Make sure to save your work, then log out and log back in.
Access the TaskBar Settings window:
Right-click the TaskBar Desktop Button (This can be turned on/off at the Buttons Tab).
or Open a Terminal and paste:
gnome-shell-extension-prefs TaskBar@zpydr
or Open GNOME Tweak Tool (Advanced Settings), click on Extensions in the sidebar and then click the gearwheel button next to TaskBar. gnome-tweak-tool might not be pre-installed on your OS.
or Visit TaskBar at the GNOME Shell Extensions Website and click the tools button next to the ON/OFF button at the top-right. This is also available at your Installed Extensions website. Make sure that the "GNOME Shell Integration" plugin (gnome-shell-browser-plugin) is installed and enabled in your browser preferences.
Export and Import all Settings at the About Tab. This will run shell commands:
Export:
dconf dump /org/gnome/shell/extensions/TaskBar/ >$HOME/taskbar.dconf
Import:
dconf load /org/gnome/shell/extensions/TaskBar/ <$HOME/taskbar.dconf
Reset all Settings at the About Tab. This will run a shell command:
dconf reset -f /org/gnome/shell/extensions/TaskBar/
Tasks Default: ON
Adds buttons, one for each window ('Task'), to the TaskBar container on the top panel.
The buttons show icons of the respective applications.
Clicking buttons will activate, minimize or close windows.
A right click will open the application menu (for GNOME applications; 'Quit' only, for other applications) and when grouped by application, also show a list of grouped windows to choose from.
When hovering, a preview including the application name, window title and a small live screen of the window will appear. This can be set at the 'Preview' tab.
Label can be added to the icons, showing the application name or window title. There are various settings to be found at the 'Tasks (I-III)' tabs.
Desktop Button Default: ON
Adds a 'Desktop Button' to the TaskBar container on the top panel.
Clicking the button will toggle the desktop view.
A right click will open the TaskBar settings window.
Icon and right-click option can be changed at the 'Buttons' tab.
Workspace Button Default: ON
Adds a 'Workspace Button' to the TaskBar container on the top panel.
The button shows the index number of the active workspace.
A left click will switch to the next, higher workspace.
A right click will switch to the previous, lower workspace.
Index format, scrolling and color can be set at the 'Buttons' tab.
Appview Button Default: ON
Adds an 'Appview Button' to the TaskBar container on the top panel.
A left click will open the desktop 'Applications' view.
A right click will open the desktop 'Overview'.
Icon and clicking order can be set at the 'Buttons' tab.
Favorites Default: OFF
Adds buttons, one for each 'Favorite' application, to the TaskBar container on the top panel.
The buttons show icons of the respective applications.
Clicking the buttons will open the applications.
When hovering, a preview including the application name and description will appear. This can be set at the 'Preview' tab.
'Favorites' can be added, removed and re-ordered via the GNOME Desktop Overview and Dash.
Align (Tasks, Desktop Button, Workspace Button, Appview Button, Favorites)
Choose one TaskBar component to re-order from the drop-down menu.
Clicking '<' or '>' moves the selection to the left or right within the TaskBar container, swapping places with the other components.
Top Panel Default: ON
Shows the top panel.

Removes TaskBar from the top panel and adds it to a new bottom panel.
