This responds to the suggestion from @ygrange in openjournals/joss-reviews#809 (comment). Thanks so much for pointing this out! For some reason I decided to exclude the exception classes from the code coverage estimates, which was totally unnecessary. Adding docstrings allowed me to catch a few outright bugs or places where we should have been raising custom exceptions but weren't. It also allows me to expand the test coverage even more (cue evil laughter).
