The 2017 Berlin YAML Summit Timeline

Friday May 5th 2017

  • Ingy, Felix and Tina all meet up in Berlin
  • We spend an hour getting to know each other
  • Ingy gives his 2016 YAML presentation to start conversations
  • We decide to make starting YAML 1.3 primary goal
  • We go eat pizza for dinner
  • We start defining RFCs for YAML 1.3
  • We get tired and sleep

Saturday May 6th 2017

  • Felix wakes up first and invents a templating feature that could go into YAML itself. We originally suspect it will wait until YAML 2.0.
    • It only requires adding @word tokens to any node. @ is currently reserved.
  • Ingy and Tina wake up and we all eat breakfast
  • Ingy calls the new @word tokens "annotations"
  • We decide that annotations can be a part of 1.3
  • Annotations are general purpose and can be used for a number of loader operations made by different groups. Still we want to take care of how they affect the model, and where in the stack the proceesing should take place.
  • Felix talks about possibility of a libyaml written in Nim.
    • Nim compiles to C.
  • We finish off RFCs 1-10.
  • We break for lunch.
