Releases: wesl-ee/RAL
Stable Release Version 1.2 "Hope"
This is the last release on a version 1.x! Additionally, this is the last release with real-time functionality. I made a mistake when writing a real-time program for the HTTP/S protocol. The protocol was never designed for real-time communication. For me, there is much more beauty in the simplicity of a single-request model as opposed to a constantly-connected model (as RAL is now). There are many protocols (IRC, Telnet, SSH, etc.) which far better facilitate what I hoped to accomplish with a real-time textboard (and I hope that RAL can expand into these spheres soon).
In any case, the releases following 1.2 "Hope" will not be named after FFXIII characters anymore (sorry :P) and will feature a cleaner codebase and vastly simpler setup procedure.
Stable Release Version 1.1 "Snow"
This marks the second stable release of RAL; master
is caught up with develop
and there are few outstanding flaws with the source (based on live tests), hence the stable release. I am very proud of the current state of RAL, however there are still lots of things on my wish-list for the site. Once these things are accomplished, RAL will be bumped to Stable Release Version 2.0:
- BBCode support deprecated in favor of RAL-flavored Markdown (#11)
- Front-page searchbar (#10 )
- Real-time support across all parts of the site (except help pages) (#6)
- Eliminate "Post Successful" page when Javascript is enabled (#2)
- Web moderation page (#7)
- Transparent / Public moderation log (#8)
I look forward to the implementation of these ideas; if any of these features interest you and you would like to help please contact me: I would love to include you in the development of this project.
Stable Release Version 1.0 "Lightning"
This is the first stable release of RAL; installation should be as simple as following the instructions in docs/INSTALL.pod
and running bin/install
once all requisites have been met. If there are any issues, please do not hesitate to contact me for help.
If you enjoy this software, I would love to hear from you!
