April2020 FTF
Through discussion at its first face-to-face meeting in September 2019, the Web Payment Security Interest Group prioritized a five high-level projects: security, privacy, interoperability, complexity, and liaisons. Since then, the group has focused its efforts on two of them – privacy and interoperability.
In December 2020 WPSIG held a joint call with the W3C Privacy Interest Group about how anticipated changes in browser behaviors would likely affect EMV® 3-D Secure implementations. Since that call, the chairs of the two groups have been distilling the key elements of the discussion and creating a plan for the next call, likely in March.
Under the interoperability banner, the WPSIG organized an introductory call with the Open ID Foundation (OIDF) as part of creating some educational materials about how technologies from EMVCo, W3C, FIDO, and OIDF relate and can be used together to create seamless, secure payments.
The WPSIG plans to meet in Dublin, Ireland on 1 April 2020 to continue discussions about payments, privacy, and browsers; to create a plan for a public version of "how technologies relate"; and to share other updates.
The co-Chairs encourage FIDO and W3C Members to join the meeting, which takes place in parallel with a 4-day meeting of the Web Payments Working Group. Please contact us for more information: <[email protected]>
