dotfiles

This is a bare git repository that tracks my dotfiles.

Inspired by https://www.atlassian.com/git/tutorials/dotfiles

1. git init --bare $HOME/.myconf
2. echo "alias config='/usr/bin/git --git-dir=$HOME/.myconf/ --work-tree=$HOME'" >> $HOME/.zshrc
3. config config status.showUntracedFiles no

Then I can version control my dotfiles like: 

config status

config add .gitconfig

config commit -m "add git config"

config push

To install dotfiles onto a new system 

1. echo "alias config='/usr/bin/git --git-dir=$HOME/.myconf/ --work-tree=$HOME'" >> $HOME/.zshrc
2. git clone --bare <git-repo-url> $HOME/.myconf
3. config checkout
