We have the ability to convert whiteouts from AUFS to OverlayFS format, used when a layer is converted from TAR to SquashFS.

We need to be able to go the other way, so that it will be possible to emit a TAR format layer with AUFS whiteouts, from a SquashFS layer as the source.

Allow OverlayFS whiteouts to be converted to AUFS, by filtering a tar
stream.

In this direction the conversion is a single pass, single operation.
There is no requirement to pre-scan the tar.
