This visualization illustrates three different patterns of infectious dynamics of COVID-19: Florida, Idaho and Maryland.
Maryland
First, let's look at Maryland:
As soon as test positivity increased early, lockdowns were instituted. Rebound was slow, and test positivity (colour of the curve) stayed correspondingly low.
Florida
Next, FL:
In Florida, it was primarily the increasing rate of infections after initial openings in Apr/Jun that led to a consistent decline in mobility in public spaces (darker curve -> higher test positivity rate -> reinforced measures -> reduced mobility).
Idaho
In Idaho, mobility restrictions were loose, and other than workplaces, the bounceback was quite fast and mobility did not consistently decline. Correspondingly, test positivity rates have become higher and higher with time (darker colour of the curve).
