I'm Roland Bouman and professionally, I have worked as Application Developer, Software Engineer. Today my title is Chief Software Engineering.
Over the years I have created a collection of open source projects. It always starts small, from a desire to learn or from noticing a gap in the available tools and libraries that you think you can fill. Most of my projects also stayed small, in the sense that they are tools designed for one particular purpose. At some point, these tools are "done" and don't require any new feature development. Despite staying small, some of these projects became a (moderate) success: people are using it, either directly or as part of a larger work of software.
The strange thing is that I don't always know about how and when people are using my software. It has happened quite a few times that, years after releasing it, and often years after I last maintained it, people drop me an email, asking about a new release or about something that broke. I often will spend some time trying to figure out if I can help them, but as my open source contributions are almost all completely next to my day job.
I feel that a small donation would help me understand which projects need active maintenance and better motivate me to engage. So, if you're using my software, consider leaving a donation. Thank you in advance!
