It appears that our Travis builds have stopped working for PRs - we should switch to using GitHub Actions asap, since we are given a certain amount of workflows free for public repos.

We should be able to switch the current tests being run via .travis.yml to GH actions relatively easily. Additionally, it appears that the CodeCov extension is also no longer working, but we can lose this if needs be.
