What's wrong?

I use the Heatmap settings for my laptop lights but on version 0.199 it wasn't working. I tried 0.200 and the issue persists. Going back to .197 and it works again. On version 0.199 when I select Heatmap the previous setting remains applied.

How to reproduce the bug?

On the main screen, under Laptop Keyboard section select Heatmap from the first dropdown with the light modes. It will remain on the previous setting.

@thisisgeoffsemail hello,

That's strange cause I didn't change anything about backlight between 0.199 and 0.197 .

Can you try 0.197 and also 0.198 again and check since what specific build it stops working for you?

Thanks

@thisisgeoffsemail hello,

Can you check if this build makes a difference ? Also please check if Ambient mode behaves same as Heatmap for you ?

@thisisgeoffsemail hello,

Ok, it's quite strange :) I have now reverted all things that could even remotely affect RGB from 0.198 (that is working ok for you).

Please try this build.

Also I have added a verbose logging (for a debug purposes). So please upload a log from it here.
Thanks!

@thisisgeoffsemail I thought I did ... but apparently reason is somewhere else :)

Can you try this build then ? (sorry for all the builds, but since for me it always works fine, i can't really reproduce it - so i'm just guessing)

To answer your question : it's normal that after boot device runs one of hardcoded backlight modes. Heatmap and Ambient are the only 2 "software" modes where G-Helper manually sets colors based on conditions (temp or screen contents). Others are just built into device and worth w/o any G-Helper or AC running.

@thisisgeoffsemail P.S. Sorry, I have re-uploaded the build, please test this one

@thisisgeoffsemail amazing, then we have a reason. I have accidentally removed an 1 second delay before setting backlight brightness (not the mode itself) in 0.199. And apparently for your device it mattered.

Thanks for helping to figure this out :) I will include the "fix" in the next release
