I am experiencing the same issue. Using latest edition of Kali and Fern-WiFi-Cracker. Curious if a solution was ever found? Thanks.

not with kali, i'd rather a debian
all prerequisites are ok
i just git clone fernwifi and start it, python3 execute.py
I will be happy if someone find a solution.
