Make changes to default paths used by ROS? #673

Should ROS_HOME be set (otherwise ROS 1 writes to /home/root)? Should ROS_LOG_DIR and ROS_TEST_RESULTS_DIR be set to be under /var/log?
What about ROS 2 logs?
