Python 2.7 will not be maintained past 1st January of 2020 (see https://pythonclock.org/). For this reason, ideally we should switch to Python 3. As the support for python3 has been added in urdf_parser_py in ros/urdf_parser_py#38, this is blocked by robotology/simmechanics-to-urdf#36 .
