Can't get my set-up to work again after migration to a new laptop (MacOS) #2918
Comments
If you've restored from a macbook or a time machine backup, I don't know why they haven't been transferred, but you can set up a new auto export by exporting your library and checking the "keep updated" checkbox. |
I cannot look at the log right now, I will have access to my laptop tonight. |
Why did you choose to change your home directory? That wasn't necessary for a macbook migration. |
Hi!
" a new auto export by exporting your library and checking the "keep updated" checkbox. "
I don't any such option… Looks like it's gone!
" Why did you choose to change your home directory? That wasn't necessary for a macbook migration. "
LOL Like I had any choice in that... Freewill is an illusion!
" I cannot look at the log right now, I will have access to my laptop tonight. "
Ok. Thank you.
Best regards,
Laurent

Is bbt installed, and have you selected one of its exporters? Can you include a screenshot of the export dialog?
There are good (and bad) arguments for that position, but a migration macbook to macbook would have given the option, and for a time machine migration (by far the fastest and easiest) it would have been the default. |
I did a MBP to MBP migration - at no moment there was any choice given for the home directory.
I attached screenshots to the ticket. Here they are attached.

In MB to MB, you can just select your existing username, it will make a new profile for that but at the end you're asked if your want that profile replaced. At no point before that are you told about this which is horrible UX. The easiest way really is to make a time machine backup from the old laptop and set up the new one from the backup, not the MB. Loads faster too. Just did one and it took 15 minutes. If you respond by mail, github discards attachments, so I don't see your screenshot. |
How do you want me to send you the screenshots then?

You can post them on the github site on the issue (which incidentally also cuts down on clutter - mail-in responses repeat part of the conversation each time) |
Those are the earlier screenshots of the preferences. You can't set up new auto-exports from the preferences, you can only manage existing exports there. To set up a new auto-export, right click on a collection or library, choose "Export.." and in the popup that appears then, choose one of the BBT translators, and check the "keep updated" checkbox. |
Got it!
Thank you.
Got the auto-export setup again
(Screenshot below - automatic export)
Now trying to understand why my \cite are left blank and with nothing as \bibliography in my PDF… :-(
My command line is as follows:
(base) ***@***.*** 08-200-LaTeX_Reports % pdflatex MyReport-AzureQuantumElements-MicroGravity ; bibtex MyReport-AzureQuantumElements-MicroGravity ; pdflatex MyReport-AzureQuantumElements-MicroGravity ; pdflatex MyReport-AzureQuantumElements-MicroGravity ; open MyReport-AzureQuantumElements-MicroGravity.pdf
( Screenshot below - empty cittions)
(Screenshot below - empty bibliography)
Best,
LT

Solved. |
Thanks for the feedback! Just so you know, GitHub doesn't let me control who can close issues, and @retorquere likes to leave bug reports and enhancements open as a nudge to merge them into the next release. |
Again - sending attachments (such as screenshots) via mail does not work on github. |
Debug log ID
MYXYKAG3-euc/6.7.211-6
What happened?
It looks like that the automated export does not work anymore, and I can't find a way to set it up back again.
I migrated to a new Mac Book Pro and the home directory has changed.
My previous setting was exporting to /Users/laurent 1/Dropbox (Personal) /Apps/Obsidian/Laurent's Vault/50-Sources/591-Zotero-Biblatex/My Library.bib
Now My home directory is /Users/laurent2/
Please help
Thank you
