This is Readme for the database of Estonian runosongs.

The database contains the runosongs, other poetic texts and some context info on runosongs, singers and singing that are stored at the Estonian Folklore Archives of the Estonian Literary Museum. The database has been compiled at the same institution since 2003 by the workgroup led by Janika Oras. The database is a work in progress and is completed on daily basis. Web interface of the database is available at https://www.folklore.ee/regilaul/andmebaas/

The current version of the database uploaded in github at 14.11.2023 contains 108969 texts.

Code contains a python script for converting the file main.csv from the database dump to the xml files included in this repository.

Csv folder contains tables with metadata and type index.

XML folder contains poem texts along with metadata in structured way. The texts have been normalized by orthography.

XML_koll folder contains poem texts and metadata in xml structures. The texts are written in the orthography as in original collections at the archives.
