I have developed several applications with Flutter for mobile applications. Given my love for mobile dev, I joined SIGMobile at ACM@UIUC, where I eventually became Chair of the SIG. I provided lectures and workshops for Flutter and also managed projects for members. I believe my experience with SIGMobile is what truly embedded my decision to switch my major from Aerospace to Computer Science. I love the versatility it provides, especially with how easy it is to create an application from your imagination and how accessible it is to learn such content.
I have also worked with web development, and have quite some experience with both front-end and back-end development. My preferred stack for a project would usually be Next.js and TailwindCSS, with Nest.js and Fastify, PostgreSQL, and Prisma. And of course, I use type safety all the way; if you use JavaScript instead of TypeScript, then I'm sorry, but we cannot be friends. I think I found my "calling", at least in terms of software engineering, when I started working on the backend service for Athena. I love the detialed intricacies that come with backend developement. It always feels like every small update I make leads to more rabbit holes I dive down as I research the delicate yet robust techniques and technologies that exist to create the amazing services that we use on a daily basis.
