It'd be great if I could pass a className in to allow me to style the date input the way I want to.

is there any reason why you cannot just modify the styles that are defined in the example less-file or even use your own style sheets?
Sorry, something went wrong.
That's what I've done for now.
It's just that we're using bootstrap and adding a css class involves less effort and/or duplication. No biggie, just looked to be an easy change.
