Synchronize with upstream #199

This PR aims to synchronize the changes from upstream during 5af2bd3...f9838c1.

It also update the impl for SyncDeps to make other RegionLayouter or Assignment free from implementing the trait, to keep backward compatability.

It also updates CI to test 2 different feature set without default features enabled:

  • basic - Taken from the default flags from upstream
  • all - All features

And the build for target wasm32 passes if we add --no-default-features, which is also synced from upstream.

Also the always failing long-running job codecov is removed, didn't check why is failed and I think at some point we could revist if we find code coverage is useful.

2 new commits are pushed, will be good to have your review on them @CPerezz

  • 4ead175 - Fix when multicore is disabled
  • bceeea1 - Merge 2 CI files to deduplicates when push to main, and sync the basic feature set from upstream, and test 2 different feature set, and remove codecov

I'd try to stick to either use maybe_rayon everywhere or otherwise, use compilation flags everywhere.

But not both.
WDYT @han0110 ?

I'd try to stick to either use maybe_rayon everywhere or otherwise, use compilation flags everywhere.

So I realized that maybe_rayon doesn't have every trait we want to use, so sometimes we need to use #[cfg(feature = "multicore")]. We could always use #[cfg(feature = "multicore")] but it'd be more lines of code than this PR, maybe_rayon could be seen as a tool to reduce the verbosity (but not for every case).

Ohh I see.
That's odd to say the least lol.
In any case, it's fine like this then! LGTM!

And thanks for the work syncing up @han0110 :)

* change: Migrate workspace to pasta_curves-0.5

* fix: Complete latest trait bounds to compile halo2proofs

* change: Migrate halo2_gadgets to pasta-0.5

* fix: Apply review suggestions

* fix previous commit

* Extend Circuit trait to take parameters in config (privacy-scaling-explorations#168)

* Extend Circuit trait to take parameters in config

The Circuit trait is extended with the following:
```
pub trait Circuit<F: Field> {
    /// [...]
    type Params: Default;
    fn params(&self) -> Self::Params {
        Self::Params::default()
    }
    fn configure_with_params(meta: &mut ConstraintSystem<F>, params: &Self::Params) -> Self::Config {
        Self::configure(meta)
    }
    fn configure(meta: &mut ConstraintSystem<F>) -> Self::Config;
}
```

This allows runtime parametrization of the circuit configuration. The extension to the Circuit trait has been designed to minimize the breaking change: existing circuits only need to define the associated `type Params`.

Unfortunately "Associated type defaults" are unstable in Rust, otherwise this would be a non-breaking change. See rust-lang/rust#29661
