If we can load the GO refs details into the title and pyear fields of the pub table and store the description as an abstract, the GO refs page will look better. And mouse-over on a GO ref will be more useful.

It will help pages like this: https://www.pombase.org/reference/GO_REF:0000116

We load a refs file created from go-site/metadata/gorefs using
pombe-embl/supporting_files/make_go_references_txt.pl

I've add a file of gorefs for loading: pombe-embl/supporting_files/go_references.txt
It's the same format as `pombe-embl/supporting_files/PB_references.txt'

The go_references.txt is generated by a new script (pombe-embl/supporting_files/make_go_references_txt.pl) that we'll need to run occasionally when we use new gorefs.

The go ref names and descriptions should be visible on the main site on Friday.

The go ref names and descriptions should be visible on the main site on Friday.

I took the go ref processing step out of the load just before it started. I did a local load on my desktop and it didn't work out well. The main problem was that the "authors" field isn't always a list of people. It can be things like:

  • Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) curators, GOA curators
  • DDB, FB, MGI, GOA, ZFIN curators
  • Judith Blake (1, 2), William Bug (3), Rex Chisholm (1, 4), Jennifer Clark (1, 5), Erika Feltrin (6), Jacqueline Finger (2), David Hill (1, 2), Midori Harris (1, 5), Terry Hayamizu (2), Doug Howe (9), Maryanne Martone (7), Kathleen Millen (8), Francis Sele (4) (1. The Gene Ontology Consortium, 2. Mouse Genome Informatics, Bar Harbor, ME, 3. Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, 4. Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, 5. EMBL-EBI, Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, UK, 6. The University of Padua, Padua, Italy, 7. The University of California at San Diego, San Diego, CA, 8. The University of Chicago, Chicago, IL, 9. The Zebrafish Information Network, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR)

I didn't think "DDB et al." was a useful reference to display in the annotation tables. So I've changed it to show the GO_REF:... ID in the table with more information if you mouse over or click. The changes will be visible from Saturday.

I haven't yet done anything about making the URLs in the description clickable.

Here's how it will look:

go-ref-1

Details page:

go-ref-2

GO are working on making this easier: geneontology/go-site#1764

Once that work is done we'll automate the update of go-refs in Chado.
