Dear Donat, Terry, Felipe,

@flsimoes @tcatapano @teodorgeorgiev @lyubomirpenev @plazi/poa-office

Jenny is working on improving the record pages for BLR. Could you please review the mockups below and let me know any feedback you have.

The mockups show journal article record page. The page has a new section “Related works" which displays related figures and taxonomic treatments from the BLR community. Related is defined as all records with a “Is part of” relation linking back to the journal article.

Additionally:

  1. You can toggle between a) list view and 2) thumbnail view - which should be the default?
  2. You can filter by resource type using the drop-down
  3. You can search through the record

Some things you cannot do:

  1. Change the sort order
  2. Change the number of results shown (e.g. 10, 20, 50, 100)

Best regards,
Lars

Dear all,

Any feedback? Jenny will start implement this now and only have the next two weeks to finish it up (she’s ending her contract Dec 22).

Cheers,
Lars

Hi Lars

The viewing options and how they are presented seem all fine.
The two questions we have though are about the naming of the "Related Works" section itself.

  1. I understand why the section is named "Related Works", but it can be misinterpreted as "other articles" or "other publications". Not really sure what it could be called though... Maybe "Related Content"?
  2. It occurs twice in the page, which can be quite confusing. I suggest adding something at the end of the bottom one, such as "Related Works list", "Related Works links" or something like that.

All the best
Felipe

Hi Lars and Jenny

Her some more comments

  • If possible the name of the taxon, which is given in the treatment as "sec:

In the references section, might it be possible to hyperlink the Doi, if available?

Thanks for looking into this

Hi Jenny and Lars
One more issue. In the previous version of Zenodo, there has been a link from the journal article page to GBIF. In this case, there would be a link from https://zenodo.org/records/10244652 to https://www.gbif.org/dataset/ac0e6a04-e3b0-4e9d-b584-33176aab08b3.

There could, and in fact should be a link (is source of” from a treatment to the GBIF treatment, eg from http://zenodo.org/record/10250370 to http://www.gbif.org/species/219495280

If the GBIF specie ID is not provided, we might want to ask Guido to do so?

Thanks for looking into this too

Donat

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.

####### Landing page mockups

From what I get there’s the following things:

  1. "Related works” is not a good name What one of these:
  • Linked records
  • Related records
  • Record parts
  • Related community records
  • Relationships
  • Record relations
  • Associated work
  • Parts
  • Subparts
  • Record package
  1. “References” section - if there’s a link we should make it clickable. @jenny (you should be able to "| urlize” Jinja template filter for this.

####### External resources
Yes, there should be links to GBIF, TB and SIBLS under the External Resources like this image (ignore the wrong logo’s / alignment)

Image

TreatmentBank

GBIF

  • if related identifiers has link to www.gbif.org with relation is source of

SIBLS

Cheers,
Lars

Dear colleagues @lyubomirpenev @teodorgeorgiev Laurence, @tcatapano

I know, this is on a very short note, and I am sorry that I only thought about this today, but please have a look today at the new UI of BLR. But I think it is nevertheless better to get you involved as well.

BLR moved to a new version of InvenioRDM which allows more flexibility and with that also regarding the access to data and how the deposits and its metadata is displayed. It also offers new ways to administer access – which I will explain later.

For today, please look at the UI and let us know, whether you see something that needs attention, change immediately. There is always a chance to for implementing changes later. You can also ask other member of the team.

Right now, these are the pages

  1. Entire article https://zenodo.org/records/8402224
  2. Figure https://zenodo.org/records/8402234
  3. Taxonomic Treatment https://zenodo.org/records/8407968
  4. Physical specimen https://zenodo.org/records/6083947
  5. Photo https://zenodo.org/records/6084035

Thanks for taking a moment

@lnielsen

Adding additional **is source of **

Guido will import at least an additional URL for a source in GBIF in treatment an additional link to the article

Add taxonomic names to treatment links in the article metadata and figure metadata,

e,g, Kamabrachys signata (Distant, 1892) sec. Constant, 2023

image.
The source of the name could be:

"openbiodiv:TaxonomicConceptLabel": [
"Kamabrachys signata (Distant, 1892) sec. Constant, 2023"
or
"title": "Kamabrachys signata Constant 2023, gen. et comb. nov."

Add Figure number provided in the caption to the figure, which would make it much easier to find the respective figure-
