Software Development Plan

This is the Software Development Plan for the Clade Ontology.

  • Curate more phyloreferences
    • Curate five PHYX files as a start to ensure that new PHYX files can be added to the Clade Ontology. We are currently at three PHYX files curated!
    • We have also started our curators working on curating phyloreferences, and so will be accumulating PHYX files over time.
  • Standardize terms and move them into the formal ontologies
    • This needs to occur in a particular order:
      1. The Curation Tool and jphyloref implement a particular term in order to provide a particular function. We implement this to make sure that the term can be usefully used.
      2. We create an new term request on the Phyloref Ontology and discuss whether we can use an existing term or need to create a new term.
      3. The new or existing term needs to be implemented in the context file (in the Curation Tool repository) and jphyloref and ensure that it works by looking for it in the Clade Ontology report.
  • Build the Clade Ontology
    • This might consist of a script that merges the contents of multiple PHYX files together, but it would be very cool if we could just combine the OWL files directly and add some metadata for the application as a whole.
