Are pointer areas optimized, especially for touch? (run with query parameter showPointerAreas)

Pointer areas generally seemed large enough. I saw one overlapping in this case, but not sure how it should be resolved:

Also, I'm not sure why the touch/mouse area is expanded for the top checkbox but not the others:
