The changes in #117 and #121 have been very broad and may have inadvertently broken previously working behavior. I need to test more broadly before posting a version for @arouinfar to review.

You can still create a hidden short between a component and the black box vertex since in #117 we exempted black box interface vertices from some of the rules.
