@craigpg @karlitschek Critical regression within master and stable7. Should get clearly fixed before release. Marked this as gold ticket therefore.

It looks like the S3 unit tests don't run properly, even before my addition... so, unable to properly test this. And due to the urgency, I'll revert the change for this file on master, stable7.
