Sadly, our Python package is not yet distributed on any of the well-known package distribution repositories. However, the package is a work in progress.
Outbreak.Info is a website which hosts various up-to-date data and research relating to the SARS-CoV-2 virus from across the globe (our logo is a radar!). Like a radar, we aim to use our database of knowledge on SARS-Cov-2 virus strains to preemptively detect and counter transmission of viruses. Viruses, like missiles, are able to cause massive public health crises around the globe.
By this same vein, our Variant Reports allow researchers (as well as the average person) to track emergent or known-to-be problematic variants using customizable visualizations, enabling near real-time genomic surveillance.
Further, our site has Epidemiology tools that allow users to explore fluctuations in COVID-19 cases and deaths across multiple locations.
This outbreak.info Python package will provide access to these underlying genomic and epidemiology data on outbreak.info. For example, SARS-CoV-2 variant prevalence data calculated using the Bjorn package using data provided by GISAID, our trusted partner. Finally, we standardize COVID-19 case and death data shared by Johns Hopkins University and the New York Times and calculate derived statistics.
