- 13:32 <demory> hey everyone
- 13:33 <jcwong86> hi
- 13:33 <abyrd> hi all
- 13:33 <demory> let's go ahead with the check-in, looks like most of us are here
- 13:33 <demory> My update: just upgraded Deployer to 0.7.8; fairly busy week for requests. But mainly working on OTP front-end, hope to have a more generalized version of the leaflet-based cibi.me front-end ready for some initial testing in the coming week
- 13:35 <novalis_dt> I have been working on implementing an alternate routing algorithm
- 13:35 <novalis_dt> It's now better for long trips
- 13:35 <novalis_dt> but I think there are still some improvements that can be made
- 13:35 <novalis_dt> I also fixed various bugs
- 13:36 <novalis_dt> And, this morning, I decided to test the hypothesis that perhaps Java itself is responsible for some of our speed issues
- 13:36 <abyrd> meaning the strict math?
- 13:36 <novalis_dt> No, meaning all the rest
- 13:37 <FrankP> Released new http://rtp.trimet.org into the wild yesterday...TriMet tiles now (which are the last things to improve before replacing maps.trimet.org with this site.
- 13:37 <novalis_dt> The strict math can't be helping, tho
- 13:37 <novalis_dt> So I wrote equivalent implementations of a simple A* in Java and golang.
- 13:37 <novalis_dt> Java was 6x faster. So, that's the end of that experiment
- 13:38 <abyrd> great to have another data point on that.
- 13:39 <demory> FrankP, are the changes I made to the elevation panel working out for you?
- 13:39 <FrankP> BTW, http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/georgeaye/designing-chicago-new-tools-for-public-transit (looks like OpenPlans isn't the only transport kickstarter here)
- 13:39 <abyrd> I'm piecing together data for this NYC analyst example, working on configurable input data filtering/clamping, potentially by geographic area
- 13:40 <abyrd> and reading the raptor paper
- 13:42 <grant_h> Mele and I finished cleaning up the dtata loss in OSM from the license change redaction this week
- 13:42 <FrankP> demory, I appreciate the work, and it's exactly what I needed; but I've yet to use your fix ... will do so after the Aug 6 release. My code didn't play well with your changes, and was taking control and not giving it up to the elevation graph. I'm running out of time for Aug 6th, so froze .js changes until a patch later in August
- 13:43 <demory> FrankP, ok. Let me know if I can help any further w/ that.
- 13:44 <FrankP> grant_h and novalis_dt -- have there been fixes to osm / otp since Tuesday that I should consider getting into the Aug 6th release?
- 13:44 <FrankP> This release: http://maps.trimet.org/otp.v
- 13:45 <FrankP> commit 62bb0b4a9ac52c9ec293ab05afbeaa70b715309b Author: novalis <[email protected]> Date: Mon Jul 23 20:10:25 2012 -0400 fix #787
- 13:45 <novalis_dt> There are not.
- 13:45 <novalis_dt> The fixes since then are bike rental stuff
- 13:45 <FrankP> Cool...thanks.
- 13:46 <grant_h> FrankP: As far as OSM, I've found some errors due to the redaction in the past couple days and still have a little bit of ground to cover, so maybe early next week would be a good time to grab the data
- 13:47 <FrankP> OK Grant...I'll do that
- 13:52 <demory> any other updates?
- 13:52 <novalis_dt> Nope.
- 13:53 <demory> btw, i assume people got my email -- let me know if you have any "news" items for the website. I want to start doing that fairly regularly
- 13:53 <demory> otherwise, i guess we're done
- 13:54 <FrankP> thanks, David...take care all
